Additionally, employees are eligible to purchase shares in Sanjel Energy, providing employees with an opportunity to have ownership in their success.The OpportunityReporting to the CFO, the Manager-Financial Reporting will be responsible for monitoring and guiding the Corporation's treasury function, income tax planning and compliance, the consolidation of the Corporation's financial results for both external and internal financial reporting, the consolidation of the Corporation's rolling financial forecasts, researching accounting treatments under the Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and providing in depth analysis of the Corporation's consolidated financial results from both an external and internal perspective. The Manager - Financial Reporting will also be responsible for the development and tracking of business unit KPI's and will be a significant resource to the senior leadership team for evaluating and reporting the divisional performance.Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and management financial reports
  • Preparation of the monthly and annual Management Reports to the Board of Directors and Shareholders of the Corporation
  • Provide in depth analysis of the Corporation's financial results and key performance indicators
  • Development and implementation of divisional reporting packages
  • Assist with the coordination of year-end external audits
  • Research accounting treatments under ASPE for new and unusual transactions
  • Material contract review and maintenance of contract archives
  • Assist with the creation (including documentation and communication) of internal processes and procedures governing the preparation of financial information as well as reviewing existing processes and procedures to ensure they are effective and efficient
  • Consolidate the rolling forecasts provided by the business units
  • Automate the consolidation process in order to minimize the manual input and reduce the risk of errors
  • Review and document the Corporation's system of internal controls and identifying areas of improvement
  • Monitor and consolidate weekly cash flow reporting
  • Facilitate the reporting requirements to lenders and financial institutions
  • Coordination of the annual insurance and credit facility renewals
  • Oversee and monitor the Corporations income tax provisions and the timely filing of all returns
  • Coordinate and facilitate tax planning matters
  • Other ad hoc analysis and duties as assigned
Leadership and Management Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills including the ability to communicate in an enthusiastic and motivated manner
  • Ability to build strong relationships with individuals in other departments
  • Willingness to lead by example with a desire to "roll-up the sleeves" and dig into the details when necessary
  • Team oriented individual who is willing to help out with tasks that may not explicitly fall under their area of responsibility or expertise

Experience and Competencies
  • CA or CPA-CA designation with minimum 3 years post designation experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the audit department of public accounting firm
  • Strong technical accounting skills including an in-depth knowledge of ASPE and IFRS
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, BI, etc.)
  • Previous experience in preparing consolidated financial statements and MD&A
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and Microsoft Dynamics NAV will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, consolidation systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with a strong focus on the accuracy of financial data produced
