Job Description

LEAP leads the world in the development and sale of cloud based legal practice management software for small law firms on a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. We employ more than 600 people, have offices in Canada, USA, Australia, Ireland and the UK with more than 57,000 users using our software worldwide.

Following the establishment of LEAP Canada in March 2021, all key accounting tasks were handled by our USA based finance team in New Jersey. Strong growth in Canada over the last 18 months has resulted in a substantial increase in our Canadian headcount and in our Canadian customer base. For this reason, we are now building a Toronto based finance team. We are commencing this process with the recruitment of a highly driven Financial Controller who has a can-do attitude. Job Specification

As the Controller of LEAP Canada, you will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day financial management of the Canadian business including business planning, budgeting and forecasting. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a get it done attitude who is comfortable working independently as well as being part of a team.

You will be part of the North American finance team, reporting to the VP Finance and being part of the Canadian senior management team.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Canadian Executive team, joint responsibility for the success of the Canadian business.
  • Timely preparation of Monthly Management Accounts and Executive Board reports.
  • Oversee business month end procedures, including performing detailed reviews of Profit and Loss account and Balance Sheet
  • Work with our external accountants to ensure compliance with government filing requirements, including HST filings and corporate tax returns.
  • Preparation of the Annual Budget and of rolling P&L and Cashflow forecasts.
  • Management of Payroll.
  • Management of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • Ensure financial controls effectively operate across the business.
  • Ensure compliance with group accounting policies and procedures
Requirements

The right candidate is/has;
  • Degree in Accounting (or related field).
  • CPA with at least 3 years of post-qualification work experience.
  • Experience preparing monthly Management Accounts (inclusive of variance analysis).
  • Strong understanding of forecasting - Profit and Loss Account and Cash Flow Extensive experience with Financial Systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent understanding of revenue recognition accounting standards
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work unsupervised and a proven ability to meet established deadlines.
