The Financial Controller will provide leadership, direction, management, and vision to the financial reporting systems and ensure our client\'s financial strength by safeguarding assets and maintaining financial stability.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise Finance staff, including Insurance Advisor; prep annual performance reviews for direct reports
  • Provide support, problem-solving assistance to Finance staff, including Insurance Advisor
  • Review, authorize reports produced by Finance staff
  • Oversee tracking of expenditures, revenues
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable law, statutes, regulation, policy, and guidelines-civil and ecclesiastical
  • Provide support in the form of financial information and reports, regularly or periodically, to all inquiring parties
  • Oversee development of financial analytical data and other analytical data (e.g., annual parish returns, clergy costs across Diocese, etc.) to develop overview of financial status of Diocese
  • Create annual budget of projected revenues and expenditures; create forecasts of Diocesan finances based on current data and external situations
  • Oversee the safekeeping, use, maximum utilization, and record keeping of all Diocesan assets
  • Information Technology leadership and management
  • Advise Diocesan Bishop continually as to financial status/health of the Diocese
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Bishop
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • CPA designation
  • Deep knowledge and ability to manage organizational finances
  • Experience in full range of accounting, financial record-keeping, reporting, and related skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Able to travel to occasional meetings, events, and conferences that are held locally, provincially, and inter-provincially
  • Experience working in a diocese or non-profit organization would be considered an asset but is not required
