Position Details: Full-time, PermanentSalary Range: Starting salary will be $65,100, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the successful applicant\xe2\x80\x99s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.Location: Flexible location in Manitoba \xe2\x80\x93 (Candidate will be required to work from our Head Office at Oak Hammock Marsh near Stonewall, MB approx. 2-3 days/week)Closing Deadline: April 14, 2024 (11:59PM EDT)What You Will DoThe Financial Analyst \xe2\x80\x93 Conservation provides a wide variety of analysis and reporting to help Conservation and Finance leadership assess Conservation programs, funding and other operations. This position also ensures that finance processes and controls are documented, understood and followed, with a specific emphasis on project execution and project funding.The Financial Analyst \xe2\x80\x93 Conservation supports the tracking and reporting of major funding partnerships. In addition, this position is responsible for the financial management of assigned National Budget Centres.The Financial Analyst \xe2\x80\x93 Conservation reports to the Conservation Controller, but works closely with the Assistant Conservation Controller, Manager of Finance \xe2\x80\x93 Conservation Partnerships, Conservation and Finance leaders, as well as provides mentorship and guidance to finance and administration staff across DUC.Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in preparing, implement and monitor the Annual Financial Plan, Quarterly projections, quarterly reporting with variance explanations for National Budget Centres as assigned
  • Ensure the timely, accurate and effective entry of information in the financial systems (such as invoicing, contracts, timesheets, travel expenses, journal entries, accruals and projections) for National Budget Centres as assigned
  • Perform year-end procedures and assist in year-end external audit
  • Work with national operations and finance leadership and regional business units to collect, analyze and compile information related to conservation programs and funding \xe2\x80\x93 both financial and acre
  • Works with a variety of systems to find details, complete analysis and present to others based on the financial knowledge level of the user
  • Work with business unit leaders to develop analysis and reporting to meet business needs
  • Preparation and maintenance of process documentation and training materials to support efficient and effective operation of the accounting function across all business units related to project funding, project execution and others as assigned
  • Design new processes to maximize efficiencies, data quality and controls as related to project execution, project funding or as assigned
  • Ensure finance policy and procedures and system approval processes are adhered to. Monitor for compliance of deadlines, including expense management delinquency
  • Assist with national budget consolidation booklets
  • Work with other members of the organization to answer their business questions regarding their reporting needs.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of practical and analytical experience in Finance or related areas
  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting or Business. Enrollment at the intermediate level of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Program or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Operational understanding and demonstrated experience in accounting standards (preferably PSAS), accounting principles and policies.
  • Experience developing and monitoring financial processes and internal controls/financial systems, and interpreting and applying policies, statutes and legislation, and/or conducting audits and reviews to assess compliance, make recommendations and improve existing processes.
  • Experience with financial management in a complex environment including planning, budgeting, forecasting and expenditure control, and/or providing quantitative/qualitative analysis in a complex environment and making sound recommendations to support decision making.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on MS Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels of staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dynamics 365/Power BI/Salesforce, MS Teams experience is an asset
  • Previous experience working in a non-profit organization would be an asset
