We're seeking a

Financial Accountant (Trainee)

to join our head office located in

Vernon, British Columbia

. Our head office houses Tolko's corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement and Human Resources.



Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

Degree in business

with an appropriate

accounting specialty or equivalent

combination of education and business experience. Enrolled in or working towards a

professional accounting designation (CPA)

. Strong understanding of

general accounting principles and cost accounting

. Experience working with

Microsoft Office

. Exceptional analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Detailed oriented with strong

organizational and time management skills

. Proven ability to

think logically

and

solve problems

effectively. Collaborative and proactive thinking. Possess a high level of

integrity and confidentiality

. Experience working with JDE financial systems and/or other financial ERP systems is considered an asset. General knowledge of the forest industry is an asset.

In this role, you will:


Prepare

month end

financial statements, journal vouchers, variance analysis, fixed asset and trend reporting

on a consistent and accurate basis. Create and maintain f

inancial statements

and

analytical reports

as required. Calculate and/or review

related accruals

and

payment vouchers

. Analyze assigned

balance sheet accounts

. Prepare external

audit working papers

. Prepare ad-hoc analysis and reports in a timely manner in response to queries from interested parties. Prepare

government and external reporting requirements

(e.g. Statistics Canada and industry surveys) as required. Assist and back up Financial Accountants as needed. Respond to requests and provide analysis/information to support leadership, operations sectors or departments. Build trusted relationships with key business partners.

$60,000 - $80,000

per year.
