Responsibilities:

  • Controlling financial resources and ensuring that all financial transactions, systems, and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.
  • Financial analysis and support to Canadian stakeholders in the areas of; insurance, accounts payable and receivable, inventory and cost control, budgeting and forecasting, and payroll and taxation.
  • Assist the Treasury function to analyze the Company\'s revenue, liabilities, credit conditions, and other financial indicators to forecast its short, medium, and long-term cash flow position.
  • Advising management on financial matters and the impact of laws and regulations on the organization.
  • Providing expertise and advice to managers to help them develop budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities
  • Prepare and present findings and recommendations to management.
  • Ensure all required reports are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Forecast and budget preparation; serve as an interface between Canada management and US Finance for SGA and Capital budget/forecast.
  • Monthly SGA spend reporting and analysis; including identification, research/ documentation of anomalies.
  • Monthly Revenue, Customer, Engineering, and KPI analysis and reporting; responsible for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Resource for Financial questions, queries, and requests for management and all departments in Canada.
  • SRED Tax Credit administration and analysis and point of contact for third-party coordination during annual SRED Tax filing.
  • Utilize our Oracle Cloud ERP and ADP systems to provide support to the Canadian business; reporting, detail transaction review, assist with process improvements, and liaison with IT on system issues.
  • Lead the payroll team and oversee all payroll functions in ADP Workforce Now, including:
  • Maintain knowledge of regional payroll requirements in accordance with established provincial and federal legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare, verify, process, balance, and audit payrolls for 500 salary and hourly employees in accordance with established legislation and internal policies & procedures.
  • Process payroll adjustments and reconcile earnings and deductions.
  • Reconcile Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI) contributions.
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries to ensure timely accounting.
  • Prepare and reviews year-end reports and T4s.
  • Research ways to optimize the functionality of the payroll system and recommend updates accordingly
  • Lead, coach, and support other payroll team members, identifying skill gaps and development opportunities.
  • Support and uphold HR and HS&E policies and procedures of the company and the customer.
  • Align individual goals with the company\'s corporate goals, while adhering to and promoting the company\'s Promise.
  • Participate in Personal Development for Success (PDS).
  • Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s or master\'s degree in accounting or finance; required.
  • Minimum 7 years of financial, accounting, or audit experience; required.
  • Advanced degree or certificate; asset (CGA or CPA).
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is required.
  • Minimum 5 years in payroll.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation in multiple provinces - British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
  • Industry-related experience, preferably in oilfield technology development and oilfield services; asset.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP; asset.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now; asset.
  • Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites, advanced in Excel.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, and changing corporate environment.
  • High degree of initiative, diplomacy, and discretion.
  • Works independently yet strong team player.
  • Travel: Local travel between the company\'s Calgary facilities, 10% domestic travel to the various Alberta facilities, and international travel may be required.
