THE POSITION
We are looking for an experienced Field Liaison Officer for our Stakeholder & Indigenous Relations department. You can expect to communicate information about construction activities to property owners and residents, addressing the questions and concerns of these key stakeholders in a timely fashion, while proactively mitigating potential complaints. As the CNL communications liaison between property owners/occupants ("stakeholders") and CNL contractors, explain in plain language the details of day-to-day construction activities to stakeholders, provide regular updates on planned work and notification of changes.

o Attend daily meetings with the contractor to review construction schedules and activities, raise and resolve stakeholder questions or concerns and ensure contractors are adhering to CNL accepted communications plan
o Provide regular updates on stakeholder feedback to communications staff, highlight areas of concern and suggest solutions where possible; bring significant complaints and potential major issues to the immediate attention of project staff and/or C&SR management.
o Play a key role to mitigate or manage stakeholder complaints by proactively identifying and resolving challenges, and work with the stakeholders and contractors to either address complaints in the field or escalate the complaint through CNL's Complaints Resolution Process.
o Document all stakeholder interactions and related pertinent information and file per CNL corporate record requirements.
o Attend CNL meetings as required to maintain a thorough understanding of CNL activities that may affect stakeholders; attend public events such as CNL Neighbourhood Information Sessions as a representative of the C&SR team.
o Interfacing and successfully navigating difficult conversations with construction contractors, and communicating one-on-one with property owners, occupants and the general public

If you have a university degree or college diploma in communications and/or environmental sciences and a minimum of minimum three years of progressive and comprehensive work experience in the field, we want to hear from you! If you can supplement your education and experience further because you have Excellent written and oral communication skills in English,and the ability to communicate complex technical/scientific/environmental issues to the public in clear, understandable language that is even better. Knowledge of MS Office products such as Word and Excel and a valid Ontario "G" driver's licence are required. Experience in environmental remediation and/or related construction is desirable

THE LOCATION
The Historic Waste Program Management Office, is located in the beautiful and historic community of Port Hope, Ontario, which will be the designated workplace. Roughly 100kms East of Toronto, Port Hope is located at the mouth of the Ganaraska River on the north shore of Lake Ontario, in the west end of Northumberland County. Basically still close enough to the "Big City" without all the hassle of being in the "Big City". CNL may require you to travel from time to time, as necessary.
