JOB TITLE: Summer Licensing Liaison Officer

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hour workweek / shift work / variable hours
LOCATION: Animal Enforcement and Bylaw Services Building
HOURLY RATE: $16.75

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Animal Services Supervisor, this position provides project, program, and/or administrative support to the division in the field with regards to pet licensing and outreach. Ensures efficient and effective delivery of program by attending residences within our community and providing education and enforcement of the licensing by-law requirements. Facilitation of drop in sites and event information booths to allow the community opportunities to obtain essentials and information from Animal Services.

  • Provide program assistance in support of divisional initiatives, programs, processes, projects, and events
  • Respond to customer inquiries/concerns and provide information regarding programs and services to meet divisional service standards
  • Delivers and discusses contentious information/directives which may be resisted and uses mediation, conflict resolution, and calming and de-escalation techniques
  • Assist with administrative and sectional program duties, including correspondence, documentation, record keeping, filing, minute taking, preparing memos, reports, and presentation materials
  • Performs door-to-door canvassing to determine if there are pet(s), which require licensing and maintains an up to date map indicating the completed areas
  • Process and accept payments for point of sale transactions
  • Assist in the implementation of division projects and operations
  • Participates in working groups and brainstorming sessions to provide input and ideas
  • Assist with data entry and data management
  • Perform quantitative/qualitative research to identify information on programming as requested
  • Communicate and follow up with business partners; both internal and external, as required to complete tasks / projects on time
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Attend meetings/training as required
SELECTION CRITERIA:
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Animal care and services
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize and effective time management and organizational skills
  • Class G Ontario Drivers\xe2\x80\x99 License an asset
  • Experience with Chameleon software considered an asset
**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
