DUTIES

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Academic, and working closely with the Director, Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and Associate Director, Academic Planning and Continuous Quality Improvement, the Academic Development and Accreditation Liaison Officer ("Officer") manages projects that advance the priorities of the Office of Quality Assurance and Centre for Excellence in Learning. The Officer provides high level project management support for the Office and Centre and is responsible for supporting activities that guide faculty in facilitated change processes, This position works closely with the various stakeholders for the development and delivery of academic planning and continuous quality improvement programs and initiatives in collaboration with the Director and Associate Director.

The Officer will be responsible and accountable for leading, planning, and managing institutional accreditation with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), as well as engaging in those activities that move TRU towards a continuous quality improvement model for all academic processes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With direction, be responsible for advancing, planning, and managing institutional accreditation with NWCCU
  • With direction, prepare reports and other institutional information for submission to NWCCU
  • Supervise temporary, permanent and project employee (s), and manage employee deliverables, workloads, and expectations while providing guidance and leadership
  • Carry out projects related to quality assurance to ensure continuous quality improvement
  • Oversee institutional alignment between accreditation requirements, Strategic Planning, and other cycles of data collection to ensure an integrated planning approach to institutional effectiveness
  • Organize material for accreditation projects; plan arrangement or outline, and write synopsis for institutional oversight committee(s)
  • Conduct research to obtain factual information and authentic detail, utilizing sources such as databases, institutional reports, and interviews
  • Prepare and coordinate regular committee meetings and other meetings related to OQA and/or CELT
  • Prepare high level updates and reports for the Provost, Senate, Board of Governors, and other key stakeholders as required
  • Provide project management support for cyclical program review and renewal processes, including tracking projects, evaluating outcomes, designing surveys, conducting research, facilitating faculty professional development activities while maintaining a high level of discretion and confidentiality regarding collected data
  • Collaborate with individuals or groups in the University on specific projects related to developing accreditation submissions and other institutional reports
  • Manage the awards and grant programs delivered through CELT
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions
  • Collaborate with individuals or groups in the University
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Participation on internal and external committees
  • Generate, collect, analyze, and present data using a variety of means necessary to fulfill the purpose of CELT and OQA
  • Contribute to the development and revision of print and digital resources which support and promote excellence in curriculum and teaching practices, including social media and website content
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • A Master's degree from an accredited university, with an emphasis on research, quality assurance or scholarship of teaching and learning preferred
  • Minimum of five years' work experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of continuous quality improvement and academic/educational development
  • Three to five years of project management, process analysis, statistical analysis, and managerial reporting experience
  • Superior computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentations, and data analysis software
  • Corporate website development and graphic design skills
  • Skills in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work independently, while also functioning effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and respond to complex policy issues.
  • Strong diplomatic, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Superior communication skills; both written and oral
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff, provide leadership, guidance, and direction.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial budgeting and control
  • Ability to work strategically, collaboratively, and independently to achieve stated goals
  • Record and document review sessions, processes, and outcomes with clarity and precision.
