Midwest Co-op is currently accepting resumes for the position of FEED DIVISION MANAGER located at our Harriston, Teeswater or Walkerton location. Under direction of the General Manager, the Feed Division Manager is responsible for managing a territory that includes bulk and packaged delivery, as well as support for branch feed operations. Key responsibilities include customer account maintenance, least cost distribution, price management, and division profitability. SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

  • Supervises Feed Drivers, CSR and Sales Staff. Provides leadership to the management team in the sales and service of feed, grain, and related products or programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Establishes and maintains a regular, proactive maintenance program for the division fleet
  • Ensures MCS image is maintained and improved.
  • Provides market intelligence, including customers gained / lost, competitive marketing initiatives and activities.
  • Prepares a yearly business plan for the territory, which includes sales volumes, margin projections, expenses, and capital requirements.
  • Facilitates and solicits new business and new market opportunities, within the territory, to achieve business plan growth.
  • Establishes most wanted customer lists for the territory. Ensures consistent and organized sales activity and effort throughout the territory.
  • Assists the credit department in managing accounts receivable.
  • Ensures that Division staff works in a safe and healthy environment. Ensures legislated and company policies are followed. Ensures all legislated procedures and requirements are followed.
Ensures that all required licenses and permits are in place and current.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge base of current legislative changes within the industry, as well as current trends in product production, marketing, and distribution.
  • Develops the annual operating budget for the division. Budgets will include sales objectives, both dollar and volume units where applicable, service revenue targets, gross margin targets, operational costs, and staffing plans.
  • Ensures proper reporting and administration procedures are followed.
  • Works with drivers and CSR to ensure delivery schedules, maps, and records are current, accurate and complete.
  • Represents MCS in a competent and professional manner. Maintains proper personal image, and care of assigned company vehicle in a manner which promotes company image and sets an example for the department. Represents MCS at meetings, providing information, communications, and leadership in local activities.
  • Working as part of the MCS team, ensures that company objectives, customer service levels, employee relations and inter-branch relations are improved and promoted.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Normally requires a minimum of a college diploma or a university degree in agriculture, business, or other related discipline. Ideally has 5-8 years management experience, preferably within the retail feed industry.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations/legislation pertaining to the industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, effective supervisory skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Must also possess a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license (preferably class DZ), a driving abstract that represents a history of safe operation, as well as the ability to maintain insurability, travel independently and overnight as required.
  • May be required to be trained in the following: Chemical Handling and Spills Response, Confined Space, Defensive Driving, Lifting Devices (Forklift, Pay loader, Skid steer), Lockout/Tagout, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Working at Heights/Fall Arrest.
