Position Summary:



As a skilled Support Worker, you will provide one-to-one support for individuals in their family home. You will be responsible for assisting with personal care, medication administration, seizure monitoring, stretches, and any other areas of the person's life that is of value to them. Flexibility, creativity, and time management are essential to being successful in this role.

As this position is family directed, the caregiver, along with a PHSS Coordinator, will assist you through the training process, policy review, and will provide ongoing support to you throughout your role. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who thrives working independently, takes initiative in their working environments, and is excited at the opportunity to make a meaningful connection in someone's life. Applicants with DSW education, behavioral supports experience and/or CPI certification will be given preference. This role is best suited for a candidate with an additional job who is looking for additional hours within their week.

Position Description:



Support workers will work in multiple family homes, take direction from family, person supported, and work independently.

Complete personal care in a respectful manner.

Assist individuals with community engagement, and plan meaningful activities and skill building.

Support with behavior de-escalation and/or redirection based on the individuals support needs.

Demonstrate proven ability to remain calm in very stressful situations.

Support and work with families with various points of view and approaches.

Cope with risk behavior while remaining neutral and professional.

Create/follow support strategies and protocols to ensure safety and security.

Participate in yearly/ongoing trainings as needed.

Position Requirements:



Training and experience in supporting individuals with verbally and physically aggressive behavior preferred.

Willingness to support individuals in the community.

Experience working with Behavior Support plans preferred.

Experience with supporting individuals with Autism strongly preferred.

Must be reliable, punctual, and confident.

Must be respectful and maintain confidentiality of person supported.

G driver's license required

Must have current First Aid & CPR Certification and Vulnerable Sector Check

Current CPI certification preferred, or willingness to train

Must have COVID-19 Vaccination (one dose of Public Health Ontario approved vaccinations)

Occasional weekend availability may be required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $27.83 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week
