Eggcetra, a popular restaurant in Guelph for 22 years, is looking for dedicated, hardworking, self-motivated, and qualified baristas for both full-time and part-time positions. Located near the intersection of Victoria and York Roads, Eggcetra is a highly-rated, busy restaurant that serves delicious breakfasts and lunches in a casual, friendly atmosphere.

In addition to our breakfast and lunch options, the restaurant also offers specialty coffees, fresh juices, smoothies, shakes, and alcoholic beverages such as mimosas, Bloody Marys, Caesars, and beers for our loyal customers.

Job Types:

Full-time and part-time server positions. Full-time server shifts consist of three to five shifts per week, while part-time shifts vary based on the restaurant's needs.

Hours

: No late nights working at a restaurant! You'll have some time to enjoy life outside of work. The restaurant operates six days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (the last seating for customers). Most employees start their shifts between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and finish around 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.

Competitive Compensation and Tips

: $17.20 per hour, plus tips. Our servers typically earn tips that exceed the industry average for breakfast and lunch restaurants.

Discounts

: Eligible employees may receive discounts on select food and beverages for personal use only. Complimentary on-site parking is available, and City of Guelph bus transit stops are nearby.

Reporting Relationship:

Servers report directly to the front-of-house manager and indirectly to the owner.

Training and Onboarding:

We'll provide onboarding and training assistance to ensure new employees understand Eggcetra's operations, expectations, and customer service standards. All new employees are subject to a 90-day probationary period.

Qualifications, Requirements, and Characteristics:

We are interested in hiring employees who are fully committed to their job and adhere to their scheduled work shifts. If you constantly require "time off" - please don't apply.

Proven experience in a fast-paced, high-volume casual restaurant setting, managing multiple tables simultaneously.

Excellent verbal communication skills in English, demonstrating the capacity to engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner.

An outgoing, energetic, and customer-focused personality passionate about delivering exceptional service.

Experience with tablet-based POS systems for order entry and familiarity with accurately processing debit and credit transactions.

Attention to detail in all tasks, ensuring accuracy in orders, payment processing, and customer requests.

Fundamental math skills for managing cash and processing credit or debit card transactions.

Quick learner able to adapt to changing demands and respond to customer needs with urgency.

Ability to follow instructions from management and work as part of a team to provide excellent customer experiences.

Capable of standing for extended periods and physically transporting food and beverages between the kitchen and dining area.

Strong teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with team members (servers, hostesses, hosts, and baristas) to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Professional grooming and hygiene practices to meet restaurant standards. Eggcetra-branded T-shirts and sweatshirts are required, in accordance with the restaurant's dress code policies and practices.

License/Certification: Servers must hold a current and valid Smart Serve Ontario certification or be willing to complete the free online training provided by the government before starting at Eggcetra.
