Eggcetra, a popular restaurant in Guelph for 22 years, is seeking dedicated, hardworking, self-motivated, and qualified hostesses or hosts for both full-time and part-time positions. Located near the intersection of Victoria and York Roads, Eggcetra is a busy restaurant that serves delicious breakfasts and lunches in a casual, friendly atmosphere.
In addition to our breakfast and lunch options, we also offer specialty coffees, fresh juices, smoothies, shakes, and alcoholic beverages such as mimosas, Bloody Marys, Caesars, and beers for our loyal customers.

Hours
: No late nights working at a restaurant! You'll have some time to enjoy life outside of work. The restaurant operates six days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (the last seating for customers). Most employees start their shifts between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and finish around 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
Competitive Compensation and Tip-Out Potential
: $17.20 per hour, plus potential tip-out potential. Our full-time and part-time hostesses and hosts are eligible to participate in the restaurant's tip-out program, which will be explained to candidates during the interview.
Discounts
: Eligible employees may receive discounts on select food and beverages for personal use only. Complimentary on-site parking is available, and City of Guelph bus transit stops are nearby.
Reporting Relationship:
Hostesses, and hosts report directly to the front-of-house manager and indirectly to the owner.
Training and Onboarding:
We'll provide hands-on onboarding and some training assistance to ensure new employees understand Eggcetra's operations, expectations, and customer service standards.
Qualifications and Characteristics - Hostesses and Hosts
Excellent interpersonal skills
with the ability to greet and engage guests in a warm, friendly, and welcoming manner.
Strong organizational skills
to manage guest flow, seat guests promptly, and ensure a smooth transition between seating and dining.
Ability to multitask
and manage multiple duties simultaneously (e.g., greeting, seating, cleaning, and resetting tables).
Knowledge of the restaurant's menu
and the ability to make recommendations or answer questions for guests.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure
, especially during busy times, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
Basic cleaning skills
to ensure tables and dining areas are always tidy and ready for guests.
Ability to maintain a clean and organized front-of-house area
, including restocking menus, napkins, and condiments.
Professional grooming and hygiene practices
to meet restaurant standards.
Team player
, collaborating effectively with servers, baristas, and other staff to provide excellent service.
Strong communication skills
, with the ability to relay important information to servers, management, and kitchen staff.
