The Single Parent Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (SPANL) is a dynamic, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering single parents on their journey to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. We\'ve partnered with SPANL in search of an Executive Director to lead their organization with passion and vision. This is an exciting one-year term opportunity to make a lasting impact on the community and shaping the future of family support.

The Executive Director will orchestrate the overall success of the organization and its strategic direction, financial health, and operations while ensuring fulfilment of its mission. In this role, the Executive Director leads and inspires a passionate team to deliver impactful programs and services. Serving as the face of SPANL, the Executive Director will advocate for the needs of single parents and cultivating partnerships and collaborations to strengthen community ties and strategically position SPANL and its supported families for long term success and stability.

As the ideal candidate, you are committed to improving your community through advocacy and support for single parents. You are an experienced and creative leader who develops initiatives and partnerships that align with shared values. You are good at getting things done. You are an authentic communicator and storyteller capable of building momentum and generating funds to support your vision of community success. You lead with integrity and courage, employing good judgment in decision-making.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Leadership - Provides creative and visionary leadership ensuring alignment with SPANL mission, goals, and strategic priorities while fostering diverse and inclusive communities.
Operational Management - Oversees all operational deliverables of the organization including fundraising and budget planning, financial stewardship, human resources, data collection and evaluation, service and program delivery, and marketing.
Partnerships and Development - Builds partnerships aligned with the values and purpose of SPANL, creating opportunities for growth through shared resources and fundraising.
Communication and Advocacy - Proactively shares the story of SPANL and advocates for single parent supports, enabling them to regain control over their lives for the empowerment of themselves and their children.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or equivalent of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in nonprofit/business management, financial management, volunteer development, donor relations, grant processes, fund development, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to respond to complex situations with a cool head and trauma-informed leadership style.
  • Relationship management skills are essential for this role.
  • Partnership skills and ability to work with private and public sectors.
  • Values diversity and fosters an organizational culture that respects and accepts differences.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
