Alberta Health Services is currently looking for an Executive Director to join the Critical Care Strategic Clinical Network (CCSCN) leadership team. The CCSCN is a key enabler of on-going provincial improvement in health outcomes, patient experience, and health system sustainability across critical care in Alberta. Our vision is to bring together people, evidence and data to achieve the best possible health outcomes for critically ill patients and their families within a sustainable publicly funded health care system. The CCSCN connects, supports, and enables teams of clinicians, operational leaders, researchers, patients and families, strategy and policy leaders, and other key stakeholders to drive innovation in health service delivery. The Critical Care network consists of a core committee, numerous workgroups, and project and research teams. The CCSCN Executive Director (ED) reports to the CCSCN Senior Provincial Director and Senior Medical Director. The ED provides primary, substantive, operational leadership for the network and is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Critical Care SCN\'s transformational roadmap. As such, this role is future oriented, requires high tolerance of ambiguity and ability to lead through influence, strong ability to connect and communicate with key partners, and mobilize limited resources and team members to deliver results.

Description:

The Critical Care SCN ED is responsible to direct activities relate to network strategic planning processes connected to AHS strategic planning cycle, ensure engagement of network members across the provide, provide expert advice, counsel, and operational solutions and ensure the Critical Care SCN and AHS achieves priority performance metrics. This includes collaborative development of business cases, work plans, clinical practice standards etc. The incumbent must have a strong clinical and business background, excellent writing and communication skills, the ability to directly influence decision making, and knowledge of the diverse operational areas across AHS. In support of the CCSCN\'s strategic direction \xe2\x80\x9cmaturing as a learning healthcare system\xe2\x80\x9d, the ED provides operational leadership to a portfolio of research and innovation projects in partnership with principal investigators and CCSCN Executive Leadership. The Critical Care SCN ED is also responsible to plan, write and organize high-level briefing notes, summary/progress reports, including quarterly CEO reports and presentations that may be required by AHS executive, AHS Board or important partner organizations. The position has a key role in engaging appropriate stakeholders while fostering and maintaining relationships with numerous stakeholders. This involves planning, leading, and organizing the activities of the Critical Care SCN, with the application of strong project management techniques and implementation science knowledge, and use of tools to guide the work of the SCN. The Critical Care SCN ED provides leadership, strategic direction, relationship management, and oversight to negotiate and ensure appropriate support and a coordinated approach to the Critical Care SCN in fulfilling its responsibilities and achieving its goals/objectives.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a health sciences or related field and appropriate license or other recognized designation. A graduate degree in health administration, business administration or related field is strongly preferred. Eight years of progressive, diverse healthcare leadership experience in a health care organization of significant size, complexity and diversity.
Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in resource management, planning and budgetary accountability. Excellent communication skills - both written & verbal. Demonstrated ability to influence and facilitate change in areas without operational accountability in a large organization, preferably on a provincial scale. Experience in fostering and maintaining positive relationships and productive partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to support and lead provincial-scale health initiatives - either within an individual SCN or across multiple SCNs. Demonstrated ability to develop evidence and best practice-based care models and pathways for dissemination and implementation in AHS. Ability to develop and publish performance measures across quality dimensions. Experience in engaging clinical experts, users, patients and members of the public to design service models and implementation strategies to achieve goals. Experience developing and publishing performance measures across quality dimensions.
Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree in health or business administration or related field (a strong differentiating factor). Minimum of 8 years\' experience in leading/supervising teams in a healthcare environment of significant size, complexity and diversity. Clear understanding of AHS and Alberta Health business plans to incorporate these into planning and documentation. Experience in project management. Demonstrated ability in change leadership/management and collaborative partnership development.
