The Acadia Community Association owns and operators the Acadia Recreation Complex. Built in 1981 to serve the needs for a gathering place for the community, the ARC is now a central landmark for curling, hockey, skating, racquet sports, and community events for Acadia and beyond.
Under the direction and support of the Executive Director, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to bring new ideas to our community to meet the event and programming needs of residents of all ages and interests. This position entails a combination of administrative and event / program oversight responsibilities as well as direct delivery. Building and maintaining positive relationships with the community, staff and the public are integral to the success of this position. Motivation along with creativity and vision to develop and implement new events and programming is critical. The ability to work flexible hours to meet operational needs including days, evenings and weekends is required.
Specific responsibilities:
Planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluating programs, services and special events
Liaising closely with the public, external groups and other community associations and recreational facilities to develop programming that meets the needs of the community
Monitoring and evaluating events and programs, implementing changes to identify opportunities for improvement
Experience programming in ice rink and curling rink environment
Experience planning lounge events, special events with catering is recommended
Assisting in the preparation, monitoring and oversight of program budgets
Effectively market the events and programs via various social media platforms and other means
Research, apply for and follow up on grant funding to support events and programs and other various opportunities

Qualifications:
Previous experience in event planning and programming along with marketing in a similar recreation environment (1-2 years)
Sound knowledge of the principles, philosophies, objectives and means to develop and administer recreational programs, services and special events.
Excellent communication skills and proven experience delivering high level customer service
Experience bringing community together is an asset.
Vulnerable Sector police check required upon hire
