Job Description
Do you have a passion for learning about other cultures? Would you like to help newcomers through English language practice? Facilitating an ESL conversation practice group may be the right volunteer role for you!
In this role, volunteers facilitate discussion groups for 5-15 newcomers with diverse language levels. Volunteers also help newcomers become familiar with Canadian culture and learn about community resources, which will allow them to integrate successfully and settle into their new community, in a friendly, respectful, and welcoming manner.
Desired skills and qualifications include:
Good listening skills and effective communication skills Resourcefulness and creativity Ability to respond to various learning needs Patience and flexibility Being supportive of diversity Ability to work in a team Fluency in English
The time requirement for this role is 2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.
The following positions are available:
3-4 Volunteer session facilitators
