The primary focus of the job is to provide comprehensive Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (EDIAR) strategic plan implementation and support to all aspects of Division operations. The incumbent develops and shares resources and professional development opportunities for Division staff. The incumbent consults and coaches administrators, managers and Division staff in EDIAR matters. The incumbent works in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and consultants to develop and support student programming. The incumbent must be able to work effectively with all staff in a respectful, reciprocal manner. The job collaborates with leaders at all levels including learning coaches, administrators, managers, directors, supervisors, superintendents and School Operations Services. This is a three year term position stipulating a probationary first year. Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Support Division wide implementation of the EDIAR strategic plan
  • Support whole school approaches to capacity building in EDIAR Education
  • Coordinate, lead and build capacity with Division teams and cohorts
  • Support implementation of school and Division events and initiatives focusing on EDIAR
  • Support engagement with parents, guardians, families and community organizations to advance EDIAR
  • Assist with initiatives to recruit and retain staff from diverse groups at all levels
  • Develop and maintain authentic relationships with teams and departments including Religious Education Services, Indigenous Learning Services and intercultural staff
  • Support engagement with parents, guardians, families and community organizations to advance EDIAR Provide coaching support to school leaders and staff to manage EDIAR matters
  • Develop resources to support staff and student learning
  • Collaborate with consultants in the use of the programs of study to provide opportunities for all students to see themselves reflected in their learning materials and opportunities
  • Provide leadership in the Division in building capacity with Restorative Practices
  • Work with stakeholders to provide a safe and inviting environment for students
  • Develop and maintain authentic relationships with parents , children and other stakeholders
  • Advise staff across the Division on a range of EDIAR topics
  • Mentor lead teachers in wise practices relating to diversity
  • Facilitate conversations and learning opportunities including Listening Circles
  • Provide guidance and expertise to students and families
  • Advise staff on cultural, spiritual and wellness initiatives
  • Facilitate the development of positive and productive relationships with students, parents, guardians, families, peers and others in the school and local community that identify as part of diverse or equity seeking groups.
  • Co-facilitate and lead the EDIAR Division Core Committee and Division Advisory Committees
  • Develop resources to support student learning and professional development
Qualifications
  • Degree in Social Work , Education , Psychology or related area, plus five years of experience working in an educational environment.
  • Knowledge of EDIAR and community organizations to support the work
  • Knowledge of leadership and practices, partnership principles and collaborative practices
  • Knowledge of program development and project management techniques, principles and practices
  • Knowledge of Division partnerships including multiple layers of collaborative service delivery
  • Knowledge of records management principles, Freedom of information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Legislation;
  • Knowledge of MircroSoft programs including Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and databases
  • Understanding of Alberta Programs of Studies of supports available for students and families at the school, Division, and community level
  • Understanding of legislation and Division procedures
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations
  • General knowledge of the Division/department operations, business, programs, goals and objectives
  • Advanced problem solving, assessment and analytical skills.
  • Superior oral and written communications skills and the ability to facilitate difficult conversations
  • Strong consultation skills and the ability to establish rapport and trust in working relationships
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to relate to a varied audience
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and sectors
  • Strong time management, planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to present oneself in a friendly and positive manner and to promote and maintain positive relationships
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds and organizations
