Job Description


Dal Innovates supports the development, validation, and advancement of novel tech-based innovations developed within Dalhousie and academic institutions in the Atlantic region. Reporting to the Associate Director Dal Innovates, the Project Manager, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is responsible for ensuring equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging (EDIAB) within the Dal Innovates community and programming through program/content design, review and consultation, fostering community engagement, cultivating a culture of innovation, and leading a social enterprise program.
Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Associate Director to develop short-, medium- and long-term strategic plans and related operational measures and benchmarks for the Ecosystem-building Strategies. Ensure resources and systems are in place to achieve planned objectives.
  • Set measurable key objectives and key results (OKRs) to assess the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion initiatives. Collect, analyze, and report on diversity and inclusion data within the Dal Innovates\' programming.
  • Develop engagement plans to identify and meet the needs of underrepresented communities and marginalized individuals through the resources of Dal Innovates, and to further engage key internal stakeholders such as researchers, entrepreneurs, alumni, mentors, and Dalhousie staff.
  • Lead the day-to-day management of overall stakeholder relationships including proactively and autonomously building relationships and introducing new stakeholders to programs. Collaborate with external stakeholders to promote diversity and inclusion within the innovation ecosystem.
  • Manage relevant Dal Innovates programming from recruitment to post program student engagement. This includes program development and implementation to support and empower underrepresented students, ensuring equal access to program resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
  • Handle project management and workflow assignment to team members. Provide guidance and support to internal teams on integrating diversity and inclusion principles into Dal Innovates\' programming and initiatives, recruitment, and storytelling.
Note

Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field such as business, social science or adult education plus approximately three to five years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated engagement and consultation with marginalized and underrepresented communities.
  • Experience in program life cycle management with a demonstrated understanding of project management principles either through formal education or previous experience.
  • Experience in content and curriculum design as well as coaching or mentorship to students.
  • Experience with start-up methodologies and social enterprise models.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills including the ability to communicate complex information to varied and diverse audiences and build strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets and with contracting and vendor management.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt quickly while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
