Update and maintain all confidential employee data records/files both hard copy and computerized in HRIS/SAP, OMERs and Insured Benefits plans;Review and verify all employee information, payroll, pension and benefit transactions to ensure appropriate authorization, accuracy and consistency with legislated and administrative requirements;Calculate payroll, interest and severance payments with high degree of accuracy as it relates to overtime, maternity/parental leave top up payment, promotional increases, merit pay, salary revisions, grievance awards, termination payments, garnishments, and other payroll transactions;Investigate and provide explanations on source deductions, payments and adjustments and resolve employee pay, benefit premium, taxation and deduction discrepancies;Advise managers on preparing documents, on internal procedures for processing merits, promotions, completing pension documentation and severance calculations and prepare letters and documentation required by insurance carriers, agencies or other jurisdictions on behalf of employees;Keep track of all Buy backs and credit services for Pension adjustment calculation purposes and issue ROE (Record of Employment) as required;Prepare ad hoc reports as required in support of internal audits, grievances and investigations and terminations without cause;Provide administrative support to the Employee Relations Advisor with tracking and following up on mandatory medical referral requests; andAs a member of the Finance team, assist in the development of internal payroll and benefits administration processes and participate in the design, development and implementation of programs in support of corporate objectives.Here's what you will need to succeed:
At least 3 years of experience in payroll administration in a unionized environment;Successful completion of post-secondary studies in payroll, benefits or related field;Strong knowledge of SAP Payroll/HRIS systems gained through experience working within an SAP ERP environment;Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Federal and Provincial payroll/employment-related legislation including the Employment Standards Act, Employment Insurance Act, and Income Tax Act related to statutory deductions and taxable benefits and the ability to interpret and apply Collective Agreement language. (e.g. CPP, Income Tax, Employment Insurance, Employment Standards Act and regulations; Corporate policies; basic payroll administration practices);Familiarity with WSIB administrative procedures and processes;Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel to analyze information/data;Organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral), combined with demonstrated tact, diplomacy and objectivity;Proven ability to maintain sensitive and highly confidential employee relations information; andAbility to work with stringent deadlines, and work collaboratively with peers internal and external to MPAC.Nice to have:
Successful completion of PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or working towards one; andMembership in the National Payroll Institute formerly Canadian Payroll Association (CPA).What's in it for you:
