Position Overview: Reporting to the General Manager, Enterprise Sales and Business Development, the ESG Commercial Manager will own the implementation of the ESG commercial strategy within the Finning Canada Customer Solutions organization. This includes the development and execution of commercial plans by customer providing real and measurable solutions for their ESG goals.

The ESG Commercial Manager will own the commercial aspects of ESG within the mining, power and construction teams consulting with Finning Canada's sales teams and by extension customers to share the progress of Finning sustainability initiatives as well as the solutions from Caterpillar currently available to help our customers with their ESG plans. This includes conducting customer research, engaging with customers via meetings, hosting sustainability workshops and attending ESG-related conferences and events put on by Finning, Caterpillar, customers or industry leaders.

The ESG Commercial Manager will work within the Customer Solutions group to develop data-driven ESG commercial plans, documentation and language to support large deals & proposals (RFI, RFP, RFQ). This includes a focus on the management and reporting of critical factors that impact our customers and how we engage with stakeholders on emissions measurement and reduction.

This role will work internally and externally utilizing all available communication and marketing platforms (in cooperation with Finning's Communications and Marketing teams) to build awareness and education about sustainability initiatives as they relate to Finning, Caterpillar or the customer.

The role requires a strong background and interest in decarbonization, sustainability and ESG issues, as well as experience in driving environmental management and/or social impact, ideally in the ESG space.

:

  • Work with the sales teams to support the ESG journey for customers - which can include developing slide decks summarizing the sustainability information for customers, working with sales teams to meet with customers to talk about their sustainability plans and host sustainability workshops to evaluate and guide a customer's sustainability efforts
  • Support the commercialization of Finning's ESG products such as the CUBIQ Sustainability Dashboard, alternative fuels with Finning's companies' 4Refuel / ComTech Energy, technology-driven performance solutions and Caterpillar equipment.
  • Work with Finning's Marketing and Communications team on the ongoing development and delivery of the ESG Commercial Plan for the Finning Canada region in alignment with our corporate sustainability plan.
  • Manage all ESG marketing and communications for mining, construction and power, from inception through to delivery.
  • Report on the performance of ESG marketing performance.
  • Deliver communications to support ESG training and education for the sales team.
  • Ensure every large deal (RFI, RFP, RFQ) contains ESG language, commercial commitments backstopped with real data in partnership with internal and external (Caterpillar) stakeholders.
  • Support the sales organization on an as needed basis via in-depth product knowledge, ESG guidance and competitive positioning.
  • Leverage this knowledge to guide the company in how we engage with customers.
  • Develop commercial marketing and product training programs to empower the success of the sales organization, arrange and carry out ESG training programs.
  • Serve as a liaison with Caterpillar that will help broaden Finning's ESG customer solution portfolio. Participate in industry association events and Caterpillar dealer advisory groups as applicable.
  • Contribute to the Finning Sustainability Report as required - providing Finning Canada insight and content.
  • Support the Finning International Sustainable Solutions initiatives - giving insight and input to the direction of the program and delivering customer feedback as the initiative moves forward.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering; MBA a definite asset10+ years of relevant industry experience in Marketing, and Sales
  • Experience with mining, power or construction equipment application
  • Demonstrated business-related career progression
  • Previous commercial experience with equipment and product support

  • Experience in environmental, social, or governance issues, corporate sustainability, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the landscape and trends in corporate ESG reporting, and key stakeholders in the industry.
  • Strong organizational skills and program management skills - possesses the ability to successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and comfort working with large, complex data sets.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Proven skills in written and verbal communications, planning, organizing, leadership and interpersonal relationship building.
  • Ability to travel across the territory to visit customers and branches is required.
