Det\xe2\x80\x99on Cho Environmental is recruiting an Environmental Project Coordinator to join our vibrant team. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Environmental Project Coordinator is responsible for contributing to Det\xe2\x80\x99on Cho Environmental\xe2\x80\x99s various project work, both in the field and in the office.

About the Role:

The Environmental Project Coordinator is responsible for various activities related to project execution. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting activities related to soil sampling, air quality monitoring, groundwater monitoring, environmental monitoring, wildlife monitoring, and data tabulation and interpretation.
  • Assisting with project tasks related to community engagement and Indigenous Knowledge collection.
  • Assisting the Managing Director and Project Managers with staff resourcing, project planning, schedule tracking, budget monitoring, and invoicing.
  • Preparing comprehensive project documentation, including proposals, progress reports, and final reports.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and community organizations to foster meaningful relationships and ensure effective project coordination.
  • Coordinating with Project Managers, field staff, and subcontractors to ensure the completion of project deliverables.
  • Supporting project reporting, including researching, gathering data, and drafting reporting text.
  • Leading the management and coordination of field logistics and client communication in collaboration with Project Managers and field staff.
  • Supporting the development of proposals and engaging in business development opportunities where appropriate.
  • Ensuring health and safety standards and quality control measures are upheld at all project sites.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll need

For an individual to be successful in the role of Environmental Scientist, they will need to meet the following education and /or experience criteria:
  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science or a related field. A post-graduate degree in a related field is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of industry experience within the Environmental field
  • Experience coordinating environmental projects and field programs with specific experience in the Northwest Territories as an asset
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfortable working with small tools or environmental equipment
  • A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • An interest in and ability to work across the various environmental consulting services we provide (i.e., physical sciences, social sciences, regulatory permitting, Indigenous Knowledge, etc.)
  • Ability to work with project teams on various projects
  • Adaptable and effective problem solver
  • Willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions for potentially long periods at a time and travel to work in potentially remote locations
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Familiarity with Yellowknives Dene language, culture, and way of life would be considered assets
