DESCRIPTION

The Environmental lead is responsible for overseeing the development and application of environmental programs and policies in our organization. The Environmental Lead will also work closely with other members of the team to serve as an initial on-site contact and liaison for the environmental department. This position will be based out of our onsite office located near Squamish, BC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct and seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Raise Environmental Awareness to all project stakeholders in the form of training, orientations, toolbox talks, or providing direct technical assistance.
  • Provide guidance and support to Project personnel to ensure environmental requirements are understood and being met.
  • Responsible for the technical integrity of major, technically complex projects, including responding to client representatives as necessary to resolve issues or to address environmental compliance concerns.
  • Provides integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation and mitigation, environmental assessment, and compliance programs, and related environmental support services.
  • Responsible for ensuring operational compliance to the Project Environmental plans and regulatory commitments.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly technical reports documenting environmental compliance onsite.
  • Uphold company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada\'s Standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • University degree in Science/Geology/Environmental Science/Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience or an Environmental related Diploma with 5-10 years\' experience.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in water treatment plant management is a major asset.
  • Experience working on major tunneling and/or pipeline projects is preferred.
  • Professional designation considered an asset.
LANGUAGES
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
