Job Title: Engineering/Science Environmental Technician

We are currently looking to employ summer students for the Environmental Team reporting to the Environmental Superintendent. The Environmental Technician will assist with Environmental and Water Treatment testing and sampling programs.

This position will be located at the Mary River Mine Site with a rotation of 4 x 2 Fly-in, Fly-out

Main Accountabilities

• Conduct field monitoring and sampling programs as required under existing permits, licences, and the company's Environmental Management System
• Assisting process and environmental engineers with specific tasks relating to wastewater treatment activities
• Assisting scientific specialists in the collection of baseline and effects programs for terrestrial and aquatic field programs.
• Processing, packing, and shipping collected samples as required.
• Operate field and lab instrumentation to analyze field samples.
• Entering collected field and laboratory data into the environmental database
• Regularly updating, filing, and managing environmental documentation.
• Conduct internal due diligence compliance inspections of various site facilities and operational activities
• Assisting in the preparation and implementation of environmental training exercises.
• Other technical field and office tasks to support the sustainable development and site operations
• Supporting ongoing progressive reclamation activities by providing construction monitoring function.

Main Qualifications

• Third or fourth year university student enrolled in an environmental science or environmental/chemical/process engineering program or
• Second or third year technologist program in environmental related field or
• Recent graduate of an environmental science or engineering program or technologist program.
• Physically fit
