We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Engineer or Professional to join our team in Ottawa, ON. The ideal candidate will help lead the growth of our Environmental Engineering/Contaminated Sites practice in Ontario, while also providing senior level environmental expertise to our projects and initiatives. Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consulting services in the capacity of a Senior Engineer / Professional related to contaminated sites in areas such as phased environmental site assessments (Phase I, II, and III), remediation, risk assessment/management principles, and hazardous building materials assessments.
  • Manage and provide technical direction and leadership to environmental project teams to achieve compliance with quality standards and relevant regulations.
  • Mentor, direct, and collaborate with other environmental professionals on our Team.
  • Provide input related to growth opportunities, business development and planning.
  • Build and/or support client relationships as part of our senior leadership team.
  • Collaboration with other environmental team members and project managers from our various other engineering departments.
  • Responsible for the prepation of reports, work plans, and project specifications as a Qualified Person (QP).
  • Review request for proposals and qualifications for potential opportunities.
  • Lead preparation of proposal submissions, including development of project scope, schedule, and budget, as appropriate.
  • Potential for travel throughout Ontario, Canada, and international locations.
  • Uphold CBCL’s safety culture and adhere to company safety protocols and programs and applicable health and safety regulations. Maintain compliance with specific client, and site-specific health and safety protocols and programs, as required.

Your Credentials and Capabilities:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geoscience / Earth Science, or other Environmental/Applied Science.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in environmental consulting or relevant environmental industry, including prior field experience with environmental sampling of various media soil, surface water, groundwater, soil vapour, and air, remediation projects and working with subcontractors.
  • Registered Professional Engineer and/or Geoscientists (P.Eng. or P.Geo), based on relevant experience.
  • Established QP as per Ontario Regulation (O.Reg) 153/04.
  • Strong experience working with Phased Assessments, and relevant regulations (such as O.Reg. 153/04, O.Reg. 406/19).
  • Working experience in hazardous building materials assessments is an asset.
  • Experience in project management and managing a portfolio of projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, and time management skills.
  • Highly professional demeanor with emphasis on client service and client profile management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including analysis, and reporting.
  • Promote career development of junior and intermediate staff through encouragement, training, and mentoring.
  • Passionate advocate for occupational health and safety.
  • Applicant must have a valid Class G driver’s license.
