We are currently looking for an experienced Environmental Engineer / Scientist to join our team in Whitehorse! This position offers the opportunity to work in Tetra Tech's expanding environment and water practice with a group of experienced scientists, geologists, and engineers. The successful candidate will work on a variety of geo-environmental projects, will thrive in a diverse and dynamic environment, and enjoys working on multi-disciplinary scopes of work for a range of clients including government, mining, and commercial clients. Responsibilities will include leading business development initiatives in the Yukon and across Northern Canada, environmental site assessments (Ph I, II and III ESAs),due diligence assessments, permitting and regulatory compliance, site remediation and risk management.

The successful candidate must be highly motivated; customer focused and work well in a team environment. They will excel at maintaining and building client relationships. The successful candidate will need to manage a dynamic workload, be willing to travel and support field programs. This position will work with our team of recognized industry experts in the contaminated sites field and will work on interesting and challenging projects in Northern and Western Canada.

Your Role:

  • As an Intermediate Environmental Engineer / Scientist you will support a wide range environmental site assessment and hydrogeology related projects for mining, government, and commercial clients.
  • You will prepare project plans, supervise field teams, collect, and analyze field data, communicate and coordinate with contractors, prepare reports, write proposals, build high quality service-based relationships with clients and actively engage in business development.
  • Assisting in managing work schedules, controlling budgets working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 years related experience in the areas of environmental site assessment, risk management and remediation
  • Environmental consulting experience in contaminated site assessment including monitoring well network design and installation, contaminant assessment and delineation, risk management, and remediation action plan preparation
  • Experience on mining projects would be an asset
  • Experience in physical and contaminant hydrogeology would be an asset.
  • A minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering or geosciences
  • Current standing (or eligibility to apply) as a P.Eng. with Engineers Yukon, or as a PGeo/PGeol in another Canadian province is a requirement.
  • Familiarity with territorial regulations, combined with a willingness, and aptitude for project management and business development.
  • Experience completing Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments and remediation projects.
  • Strong work experience on field-based investigations in contaminated site assessment and remediation, and hydrogeological assessments.
  • Some mechanical aptitude would be an asset for trouble-shooting and problem solving equipment in the field.
  • Demonstrated competency in soil and rock sampling and geotechnical soil and core logging, drilling, test pitting, monitoring well installations, water level monitoring, water quality sampling and hydraulic response tests (e.g. slug, step, pumping and packer testing).
  • Experience in analyzing groundwater flow and aqueous chemistry data, and assessing contaminant behaviour in groundwater
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written including the quality to produce highly professional reports and proposals.
  • Travel will be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments, generally throughout western and northern Canada
