Principal Duties:

The open position is for a Planner / Cost Controller in the hydro generator engineering group. The team is responsible for the design of large hydro generator components, with a primary focus on North American generator projects. This team is located at the Andritz Peterborough Generator Center, which includes a modern coil and bar manufacturing facility.

To support our engineering office we are looking for an individual that will support the engineering manager in the planning of the projects that are taken on by the engineering team and monitor the actual progress of those projects (schedule and time spent).

The unique requirements of each hydro project make this a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a candidate with related skills and experience.

The Planner is expected to work closely with the local engineering and drafting team, as well as externally located engineering specialists, project management, manufacturing and installation teams. Occasional travel to customer locations, project sites or other Andritz offices may be required.

Individual duties will vary based on project requirements, but generally include the following:

• Preparation of the project schedule and maintain it throughout the project;
• Prepare progress reports to be given to the engineering manager as well as the project teams;
• Monitor and adapt to changes within the project scope;
• Organize project reviews and prepare minutes of those reviews;
• Assist the manager in resource assignment and resource utilization;
• Develop and maintain an overview of all projects currently being done by the engineering team and identify what flexibility exists to take on more work;
• Assist the manager on evaluating the impact of taking on additional work and quantify effects of different options in prioritizing tasks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate is an individual that is willing to learn about hydro generators and has the following skills:

• Experience in planning and/or controlling;
• MS Project or Primavera software knowledge;
• Computer skills in common PC applications;
• Bachelor degree Engineering or Administration;
• Excellent problem solving skills, sound judgment, initiative & creativity;
• Ability to work with people in a team environment;
• Effective oral and written communication skills;
• Some experience in an engineering design office - desired;
• Ability to travel & work with various cultures.

• Legal status to work in Canada is required.
