About the Role
As the Engineering Manager, you will lead the team to deliver engineering activities to requirements, schedule, budget and quality in a fast paced environment.
You will have a strong focus on driving delivery, rigorously tracking execution and continually driving up enablement and performance.
Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead a distributed team of engineers
• Responsible for resource allocation, assign team members across projects and proposals, taking into consideration skill set, experience and bandwidth to ensure timelines and deliverables are consistently met
• Prioritize work for the engineering team, ensuring quality and on-time deliverables
• Hire, coach, mentor and provide feedback and career development guidance to the team
• Establish training plans for the engineering group to ensure upskilling and cross training to avoid single points of failure
• Draft test plans and/or procedures for engineering and working with the group to ensure consistency in approach and execution
• Participates in technical troubleshooting and problem-solving investigations; ability to be creative and look at problems from a variety of angles \xe2\x80\x93 reverse engineering.
• Regular reporting to management on task progress, issues, and risks/uncertainty
• Identify and execute on areas of improvement; support and encourages new techniques and new ideas

What you will need to succeed

• 5+ years of experience in the field of engineering, preferably in the Telecommunications/ High Tech industry or related area.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering management experience working closely with Operations, Quality, Sales.
• Exposure to a variety of products and technologies such as but no limited to, Ciena, Nokia, Nortel, Optical, RF, Power Supplies, etc.
• Proven experience of supporting team members to deliver and develop through coaching and guidance.
• Strong experience planning and delivery tasks to schedule and budget, demonstration effective time management across many projects and priorities
• Proven track record organizing and prioritizing complex problem resolution
• Strong communication skills and a natural inclination to collaborate with teams across the business
• Thrive in a fast-paced, agile and customer centric environment
