Job Description


Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Engagement & Mentorship Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all activities of the Atlantic Indigenous Mentorship Network (a program of the WLN) throughout the Atlantic region as well as related student activities hosted on Dalhousie University campus.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, development, implementation of all aspects of trainee mentorship activities of the WLN and ensure that activities are carried out in an organized and timely manner and within budget.
  • Coordinate distinct mentorship opportunities such as webinars and training opportunities, mentorship events such as regional book/film clubs, crafting activities, and other activities as decided by Indigenous trainees in the Network.
  • Liaise with members of the Network to support student mentorship initiatives, as needed.
  • Organize review panels for the suite of student funding, guiding the application process, and providing feedback and advice to applicants.
Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Occasional provincial and national travel may be required to meet operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Master\'s degree with 2 years of related experience in research project planning, coordination of mentorship events and activities (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Lived experience and/or in-depth knowledge related to working in Indigenous communities in Atlantic Canada.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write for, and work with, diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative, act resourcefully, and think creatively.
  • High degree of diplomacy, tact and integrity.
  • Experience with communication systems, including email and listservs.
  • Experience with MS 365 suite of programs.
