Job Description


The Science, Information Technology, Engineering (SITE) Co-operative Education program at Dalhousie University is responsible for securing and managing quality work term opportunities for over 1,500 students annually in 29 Co-op and Master\'s level programs across four faculties and a college. (Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Architecture and Planning. Reporting to the Associate Director, Employer Development the Employment Development Coordinator will build and sustain private and public partnerships with local, regional, national and international employers in order to provide quality discipline-related work experiences.
Key Responsibilities

  • Identify high potential employers from across the country and internationally, and promote the benefits of hiring Dalhousie Co-op students into job opportunities appropriate to their field of study.
  • Generate and effectively manage a strategic portfolio of employers and prospective co-op job opportunities to consistently meet job posting targets.
  • Provide client service and information to assigned employers by advising on recruitment strategies, and coaching employers on their responsibilities and obligations as a Co-op employer.
  • Ensure that job descriptions proposed by employers meet learning outcomes for the relevant discipline; liaise with faculty Co-op advisors when necessary.
  • Participate in the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of marketing activities to promote the program to new employers and maintain the interest of current employers; this might include promotional materials, special events, or information sessions.
Note

Occasional (5% of time) travel and/or evening work may be required for employer development, operational needs, or professional development.

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant field plus approximately three to five years\' related experience such as business development, sales, marketing or other related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Proven communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively manage a diverse portfolio of clients.
  • Self-motivated, analytical and capable of managing multiple priorities within established direction, objectives and time frames.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a cohesive team.
  • Proficient computing skills with the demonstrated ability to learn new programs.
Assets
  • Experience working in university co-operative education or work-integrated learning program.
