Project Engineers at Saltworks are on a career path to become Project Managers. They will manage a project from its infancy through to completion. You would have direct responsibility for budget, personnel, and project planning to make sure the project is completed on time and within scope. This role includes a heavy technical and collaborative approach, all related to delivering next generation solutions needed by industry and the planet.

If you have 3-5 years post-graduation experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing or plant build and start-up environment, this position might be for you! To succeed in this role, you must be diligent with quality, focused, analytical, and excel in a team-based environment.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Deliver clean technology solutions within a collaborative and innovative work culture.
  • Project manage the assigned scope of electrical engineering work for water treatment projects of varying sizes.
  • Work alongside Design Engineers, Supply Chain, and our Production team to ensure effective and high-quality delivery. You will drive projects forward while employing your technical and collaboration skills.
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams to ensure all stakeholders are aligned on all aspects of the electrical build and production.
  • Work with the in-house Production team and ensure work packages, installation instructions, and required parts are in place ahead of the build schedule.
  • Work with our Quality Assurance team to ensure quality control processes are being followed.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to specify and procure electrical components used within our plants and equipment.
  • Gerate commissioning and testing plans and support commissioning at our factory and customer sites.
  • Implement repeatable designs and workflows while improving our innovative industrial water treatment plants with opportunities to also support innovation, pilots, and new product design.
  • Maintain complete project documentation.
  • Maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support the project.
  • Occasionally support hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Occasionally travel to plant installations in customer-facing environments for start-up and commissioning.
  • Opportunities to become a subject matter expert, enabling you to keep and expand technical skills while also developing project management skills.
You will be a great fit if you have:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
  • 3-5 years of relevant working experience as an engineer or designer in an industrial setting.
  • Track record of generating engineering deliverables in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
  • Experience with collaborating in multidisciplinary teams where multiple stakeholders are involved.
  • Knowledge of Canadian or US Electrical Codes and its application.
  • Solid electrical engineering foundation.
  • Project management expereince is an asset.
  • Bonus: working knowledge and familiarity with developing electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
