TITLE
: EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (ECE)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of Grade 12 graduation and Diploma and valid Early Childhood Educator License to Practice or Early Childhood Educator Assistant License to Practice.
A minimum of two years and over working with students in early education.
Ability to work collaboratively with the Kindergarten teacher, school Principal/Vice Principal, and with a number of school district coordinators and community partners
Knowledge of child development, the Early Learning Framework, Kindergarten Program, and Early Learning researched effective resources
Successful experience in a variety of Early Childhood Education settings, working with diverse populations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Good organization and planning skills
Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, as well as historic and present issues facing Aboriginal communities and confidence to advocate
Cooperative, courteous, flexible, good natured, and concerned with being helpful and making a good impression
Current First Aid training and certification.
Some positions will require French Language.

PROGRAM GOAL:
The ECE position will work directly in the Kindergarten classroom assisting collaboratively with the Kindergarten teacher. Daily and weekly meetings with the Kindergarten teacher and Principal will coordinate the daily plan for all Kindergarten students. The ECE role will be supportive for each students' developmental path with the ECE key to leading activities alongside the classroom teacher. Be actively involved at the school and community level.
Performance Responsibilities:
Support and assist the Kindergarten teacher in carrying out the Kindergarten program.
Ensure that the Kindergarten students are participating intrinsically in a developmentally play approached program.
Attend Kindergarten/ECE school program meetings.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with parents and community partners.
Work in a variety of settings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten months
