The Window Design Group, was established in 1991 to fabricate commercial and residential thermally aluminum window products for high-rise new construction and the renovation industry.

Thanks to our on-going marketplace research, AWD products can be custom-designed to meet supplied specifications on a per project basis. Our wide range of products includes: thermal aluminum windows and window wall systems, Unitized curtain wall, envelope cladding, swing doors, sliding balcony doors, and steel insulated aluminum framed doors, the Euro Door, aluminum glass balcony doors, sliding, awning and casement windows.

JOB DUTIES:



Design curtain wall and window wall systems and draft shop drawings, details, and guidelines. Develop and prepare shop drawings, and proposal drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data for Curtain wall, Window Wall based on architectural drawings. Bring ideas from concept to construction with a model-based approach using Autodesk AutoCAD. Read and understand architectural drawings, and perform take off for assigned job to order materials, using Cut Optimization program. Review architectural and shop drawings, specifications, and samples for design inconsistencies and conflicts (Architectural, Structural, Shop Drawings, Fabrication Drawings). Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Collaborate professionally with project team, architects, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding design revisions and finalization. Planning and executing shop and fabrication drawings with input from the design team. Identify missing or unclear architectural drawing items and generate concise RFI's to resolve each. Organizing staff on preparation of drawings. Resolve outstanding drawing issues and pursue contract clarifications as required.

SKILLS REQUIRED:



University graduate/college diploma Extensive knowledge in the window glazing system industry 5+ years of experience in design and detailing of curtain wall and window wall is ideal. Must be proficient in drafting tools like AutoCAD Excellent skills in Excel, AutoCAD, takeoff software and Microsoft Office Must have a fundamental understanding of Building Science related topics and issues. Strong time management skills to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must be organized and self-motivated. Strong mathematical skills are an asset. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
