The person under this role, DC manager, is responsible of the Calgary Distribution Centre operations in Calgary, Alberta. The DC manager is a coach-teacher-leader with a positive attitude towards guiding the teams in maintaining a respectful work-environment focussing on open communication, knowledge transfers with the trust and guidance enabling our employees to grow with the organization. He/she plans, organizes, reviews, and manages the team's performance through the daily warehousing, cross-docking, and transportation operations. The incumbent is responsible for supporting and maintaining a high level of internal customer service through good leadership practices and effective operation management using the organization's strategies to meet the organization's objectives & goals.
In collaboration with colleagues from other departments and/or region, the person in this role contributes to Master group's growth across the North American distribution network.

Principal tasks:

  • Plans, organizes, reviews, and manages the DC's performance through the daily activities and required actions
  • Coaches, leads, evaluates, and develops supervisors, team leads and all other Distribution Centre employees
  • Develops and maintain a strong culture of Internal Customer Service and Quality Excellence within the teams
  • Identify initiatives to optimize operation and maintain continuous improvement to support our growth
  • Identify cost reduction initiatives optimizing working capital into projects supported by innovative technologies
  • Supports teams in-person between two sites to meet the expected results and goals
  • Participates in the hiring of personnel, training, performance management, employee follow-ups and termination
  • Assures Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to Distribution activities meet the organization's goals and target
  • Demonstrates capabilities to articulate a recommendation to management based qualitative and quantitative data
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer between peers and different teams across the organization - Focus on growth
Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills in English - Understanding of French is an asset
  • 8-10 years combined team supervision and operation planning experience
  • Knowledge related to a WMS system and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)
  • Ability to show efficiency, organization and adaptation in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Business bachelor, or other, HVAC-R industry experience or any relevant education completed (logistics, supply chain, operations management)
  • Positive attitude focussing on open communication to enable positive teamwork amongst cross-functional teams
  • Assure good interpersonal and empathic work relationships amongst cross-functional teams
  • Strong sense of data driven analytics to support decision making and strategy definition
  • Strong capabilities to articulate a recommendation based on data driven facts
  • Strong organisational skills to work in an environment where multiple projects are deployed simultaneously
  • Strong abilities to identify root cause issues to improve inventory performance and working capital
