Our Team:
The Region of Waterloo\xe2\x80\x99s disability management team is looking for a Disability Management Advisor who is a subject matter expert that values relationships and is passionate about building strong partnerships through the implementation of best-in-class disability management practices. The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Abilities Management & Employee Health Services, this exciting opportunity would be well suited for a person who will enjoy working with our staff to help them be their best selves while helping them return to work. This is a temporary position for up to 6 months with a possible extension.

Apply your Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
As the Disability Management Advisor, you will be responsible for Disability Claims management and return to work coordination as well as WSIB, and medical accommodations.

You will provide caring and empathetic support for our employees who are absent from work for various reasons.

You will review medical fitness for return to work and identify modified parameters for the employee once they return.

You will liaise with medical partners, insurance companies, and other organizations in our community when clarification is required to support our employees through the process of returning to work.

You will be mindful of legislation, collective agreements, policies, and procedures, and health care providers to modify plans for the employee.

Apply Your Experience at the Region of Waterloo

Knowledge of current medical treatment and rehabilitative, therapeutic techniques, and terminology, normally acquired through an undergraduate degree in health sciences (e.g., occupational therapy, human kinetics, kinesiology, physiotherapy, designation as a Registered Nurse), plus directly related vocational rehabilitation counselling experience in a unionized environment.

Capability to implement and monitor compliance with policies, procedures, collective agreements, WSIB, Human Rights, Health & Safety, Employment Standards, Privacy, and other related legislation. (e.g., WSIB, human rights, health and safety, employment standards, privacy)

Experience reading and interpreting medical documentation from various providers.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interviewing skills.

Have stellar computer skills with the strong ability to use software such as an HRIS, Parklane and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to travel within (and occasionally outside) Waterloo Region.

Ability to support and demonstrate the Region\xe2\x80\x99s values.
