This position is the Director responsible for leading the Power, PMO, and critical infrastructure operations at TELUS Central Offices and Data Centres across Alberta. You will be responsible for overseeing a team responsible for build, maintenance and operations of TELUS critical environments. You will be part of a team that is focused on Central Office Operations to deliver reliability for TELUS network equipment and services.
You will be responsible for ensuring the critical infrastructure supporting TELUS services is maintained, built, engineered and maintained to TELUS standards through a combination of your team members and strategic contractors.

What you\'ll do

  • Oversee and be responsible for managing a high performing and engaged team that will be maintaining and repairing TELUS\' network infrastructure including power and environment systems
  • Solve energy challenges on an enterprise-wide level including network outages and disaster readiness planning
  • Champion and provide change management expertise for power and environmental activities
  • Best in class management of TELUS Service Providers on a strategic and tactical basis and associated performance management
  • Accurate and timely project delivery
  • Achieve financial targets and Key Performance Indicator targets such as ensuring Preventative Maintenance routines are completed per TELUS standards
  • Manage high-risk operational escalations and mitigate risks impacting communities and customers
  • Meet our customer experience and network reliability expectations in a safe and effective manner
  • Foster an environment of strong teamwork and engagement
  • Be part of a larger team that has stewardship over the TELUS Central Office and Data Centre Office (DCO) environment including electrical and environmental
What you bring
  • Knowledge in Standby Generators, Main Electrical Entrance Vaults, Breakers and Switchboards, Motor Control Centres, PDU\'s, Main Transformers, Hydro Isolation Switches, Automatic Transfer Switches, Rectifiers, Inverters, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Grounding and Veeder Fuel Monitoring Systems
  • Understanding and ability to lead Change Impact Assessment Rules and Event or Change Management methodologies
  • Proven track record in providing leadership for mission critical power and environment solutions
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Effective communications, both written and oral
  • Effective leadership, coaching and motivational skills
  • Strong customer orientation and ability to handle both favorable and unfavorable customer interactions professionally
  • Ability to plan and organize effectively to independently meet schedules and deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments and Service Providers
  • Ability to adhere to all safety training to ensure compliance
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to service excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, lead solutions
  • University Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent related Technical Diploma
  • Minimum 10 years experience within Telecom Operations, Planning or Engineering
  • 10+ years\' experience in a Telecommunication or Power/Energy industry
  • Minimum 5 years people leadership experience
  • Experience managing Service Providers
