The Opportunity:

The Director, Variable Compensation is a key leadership role in the Finance organization, with accountability for strategic, operational, and transactional leadership of OpenText\xe2\x80\x99s global variable compensation programs.
Overall, the Director, Variable Compensation is globally responsible for the calculation and administration of all commissions and incentive compensation programs, providing analysis on plan and business performance, and providing leadership on plan design. This role requires developing and leveraging effective stakeholder relationships with Human Resources, Revenue Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Controllership, and key executive stakeholders in providing advisory services and support, and overall programs, policies, procedures, and controls supporting compensation. This role is a member of the cross-functional Variable Compensation Centre of Excellence.
You are Great at:

  • Leading a global team of Variable Compensation professionals responsible for accurate and timely accruals, incentive and commissions calculations, reporting, systems administration, and maintenance of all compensation-related payments
  • Developing an annual strategic / financial plan for the variable compensation group, setting appropriate goals and metrics to measure group performance
  • Effectively leading executive engagement in the analysis, reporting, and approval of monthly variable compensation payments
  • Developing and enhancing analytics that assess the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures; providing effective recommendations for plan revisions that are cost effective; assessing and remediating system or process limitations
  • Partnering with business and corporate leaders, developing a deep understanding of business strategy, operating model, talent objectives and compensation practices
  • Supporting the annual compensation lifecycle, including consulting on changes in compensation policies and practices, incentive plan schedules, processes, modeling and analytics, and roll-outcommunication and training to maximize effectiveness; working directly with senior leadership in the recommendation and review process
  • Establishing and maintaining internal policies and procedures that preserves security and control over confidential information
  • Delivering continuous improvement, including the automation and standardization of compensation processes
  • Advancing a culture of customer service and accountability

What It Takes:
  • Ten plus years of related experience, with demonstrated capability at the Executive level
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong capabilities in collaboration and influence
  • Robust data analysis and critical thinking skills; dynamic modeling expertise
  • Proven ability to engage and develop organizational resources and talent
  • Ability to flourish in a dynamic environment and lead through ambiguity
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in finance, accounting or other quantitative discipline required; Master\'s Degree or CPA preferred
  • High tech, Internet, or Computer industry experience is preferred
  • Experience with scaling through acquisition is desired
