Associate Director, Executive Compensation & Special Projects

Job Description


Reporting to the Director, Global Compensation, the Associate Director, Executive Compensation & Special Projects will be responsible for executive compensation plan design and review, as well as overseeing OMERS compensation governance, including board reporting and HR policy design. In addition, this role will be responsible for leading special projects, including broad compensation analysis, compensation program design, the annual compensation cycle, and enhancing the employee experience through the transformation of compensation processes, data, and analytics in Workday\xc2\xae.

Accountabilities:

  • Drive compensation strategic priorities/projects under the leadership of the Director, Global Compensation.
  • Provide compensation subject matter expertise and guidance to senior leadership and HR.
  • Enhance compensation analytics/tools available to the Global Compensation Team, broader HR and senior business leaders.
  • Act as an escalation point for compensation matters from the Global Compensation Team and senior business leaders.
  • Lead the review of C-Suite compensation, ensuring compensation plan design is in line with competitive market practice.
  • Lead the annual compensation cycle for C-Suite, including review of compensation awards and payments.
  • Lead all HR governance processes related to the HR Committee and the AC Board.
  • Partner with the Director, Global Compensation to create and recommend enhancements to the HR Committee materials.
  • Provide Education Sessions for HR Committee members.
  • Ensure governance review of all compensation programs and partner with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to ensure all components meet OMERS requirements, strategic direction, and complies with regulatory, tax, legal, accounting and operational frameworks.
  • Accountability for all HR policies that impact employee rewards. This includes Overtime, Paid Leave, Parental Leave, On-Call Leave, etc.
  • Ensure these HR policies reflect best market practices, are compliant with local regulatory requirements and are aligned to the OMERS People Strategy.
  • Lead the annual compensation cycle, providing guidance to the Human Resources team on timelines, decision tools, reporting, and analysis.
  • Continuously improve and educate on the advanced compensation module in Workday\xc2\xae.
Skills & Experience:
  • University degree in HR related field or equivalent. A CCP designation would be an asset, although not required.
  • 8+ years of progressive compensation experience with preference given to those in a technical compensation lead role.
  • Ability to consult and translate business needs into HR plans and programs that support the achievement of business goals and objectives.
  • Excellent time and project management skills with proven organizational and multi-tasking proficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, written, presentation preparation and delivery).
  • Organizational agility, with a high level of comfort in dealing with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain high level of confidence and integrity at all levels of the organization.
  • Handles confidential information professionally and discreetly.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry/business an asset.
  • Experience with Workday\xc2\xae preferred.
