Reporting to the Vice-President of Supply Chain Management the Director, Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing Vancouver Shipyards\' new construction subcontracts. The Director is accountable for the overall performance and reporting of subcontracts to support the achievement of the prime contract objectives include schedule adherence and risk mitigation. The Director works collaboratively with Program Management, Engineering, Planning, Operations, Health and Safety, and Quality. Oversees all contract management activities and serves as Contract Owner for all contracts under area of responsibility.
Reviews Subcontractor proposals and ensure compliance with all technical, schedules, quality, financial and other SOW requirements by collaborating closely with vital departments; conduct or participate in proposal clarification meetings.
Develops and implements operational excellence and collaborative solutions to be utilized with subcontractors.
Resolves any scope clarifications and manages the change control process to be established with each subcontract.
Contributes to development of operational improvements related to subcontract management.
Collaborate with key internal stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of ship construction.
Operational and Financial Responsibilities
Full CAM (Cost Account Management) responsibility for all materials and services under your supervision. Drive the overall cost reduction of the Shipyard\xe2\x80\x99s products and systems while growing quality and adherence to cost and schedule.
Identifies claim mitigation strategies; defines risks and opportunities and assures incorporation into the Subcontract Risk and Mitigation Management Plan.
Assures compliance with all aspects of subcontractor quality management systems, subcontractor certifications, quality rating systems and quality processes.
Liaises with the Legal and Program Management Teams to ensure Prime Contract \xe2\x80\x9cflow down\xe2\x80\x9d provisions are recognized and included in subcontract agreements and the standard contract packs are fully utilized.
Leadership
Builds, develops, and engages an effective team including employee mentorship, setting expectations, measuring performance, providing constructive feedback, communicating priorities, administering company policies, documenting skill gaps, identifying training requirements, and ensuring succession plans are in place for critical positions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in relevant subject area, or an equivalent qualification in financial management is required.
15+ years of related work experience in subcontracts or contracts in a, shipbuilding, defence contractor or construction industry.
10+ years of major project experience dealing with major change/claims management/dispute resolution issues.
8+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience leading a team.
Knowledge of Canadian bid laws, contract law, contract drafting, and Canadian Government contracting policy and process.
Knowledge of Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Industrial Regional Benefits program.
Negotiation, project management, and analytical skills with strong eye for business.
Ability to switch between critical thinking and hands-on execution to achieve results.
Dynamic, highly motivated individual with leadership skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments and teams to achieve objectives a must.
Communication skills, both written and verbal.
Software skills including procurement tools, ERP systems, and MS Office.
Desire to succeed in a data-driven and constantly evolving environment.
Possesses a dedication to ethical business conduct and trusted with sensitive information.
