Who are we looking for? We are growing and currently seeking a Director, Student and Associate Professional
Resources. This position will require you lead the recruitment, integration and development
of students and associates for the London and Toronto offices. You will be the point person
for students and associates seeking guidance and support in professional and practice
development, and well-being within the firm. All responsibilities of the Director are to be
undertaken through an equity lens and in alignment with the firm\xe2\x80\x99s IDEA values and plan.
You will also provide updates and advise the Student and Associate Committees. Responsibilities:
  • LL.B. or J.D. degree
  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario or another Canadian law

society
  • Has 5+ years of practicing legal experience
  • Knowledge of the Law Society of Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s summer and articling student program

and processes
  • Demonstrated skills in providing mentorship and professional development

guidance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of organization and time management abilities
  • Demonstrated awareness of and commitment to advancing IDEA values and goals

and familiarity with IDEA best practices in talent management
  • Willing to work flexible hours as needed and to travel occasionally within Ontario to
attend events i.e., career panels

Responsibilities: Recruitment
  • Maintain strong relationship with law school career resource offices, the Law
Society of Ontario, and other law firm recruiting professionals
  • Organize law school firm tours and other student recruitment events, including
targeted recruitment opportunities
  • Build relationships with law student affinity groups
  • Work with the student committee to oversee and lead the student recruitment
cycles, including applications, interviews and selection process for the London and
Toronto offices
  • Liaise with law schools regarding recruitment opportunities, including
sponsorships and outreach events
  • Attendance at OCI recruiting, career panels, student social events etc.
  • Provide guidance in the recruitment and hiring of lateral associates

Integration
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding and training for students and associates
  • Motivate and provide ongoing coaching and support to associates and students
  • Enhance work allocation systems for students and associates
  • Coordinate as necessary with law schools, the Associates Committee, the Student

Committee, the Executive Team, and supervising partners and counsel
  • Coordinate with Chief Inclusion Officer and IDEA Director/Manager to assist with

the implementation of the IDEA plan
  • Encourage and promote student and associate well-being
  • Organize and enhance student and associate social programming


Development
  • Oversee ongoing training and development for students and associates, including

internal and external seminars
  • Meet regularly with students and associates to ensure appropriate opportunities

for skill and career development
  • Set goals and create a career development plan for associates
  • Participate in the development of an associate\xe2\x80\x99s path to partnership plan
  • Provide guidance to students and associates on professional development,
building a successful law practice, and developing client and practice management
skills
  • Direct student and associate mentorship and sponsorship programs
  • Work with HR and the student and associates committees to enhance the review

processes
  • Participate in all aspects of student and associate compensation, including market
monitoring, ongoing compensation education, reviews and compensation
