Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for an Associate Director, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement to join our team in Burnaby!

The Associate Director is responsible for implementing short- and long-term communications and stakeholder engagement strategies that protect and cultivate the reputation of Engineers and Geoscientists BC. This includes registrant and public communications and consultation, digital communication and oversight of the organization's web presence, marketing, media relations, public relations, and awards. The Associate Director will lead and mentor a close-knit team of communications professionals, and will contribute as a member of the Leadership Team and work collaboratively with others to support strategic goals and initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Supporting the Director in implementing the organization's overall communications strategy and the associated plan to protect and enhance the organization's reputation with the public, registrants, and key stakeholders.
  • Providing strategic counsel and advice to senior management, executive and Council on communications strategy and reputation management.
  • Directing and guiding corporate communications efforts to deliver consistent, accurate, and relevant information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Directing and guiding the development of the organization's digital presence to deliver effective communication through its digital channels, including the website, email, and social media.
  • Directing the development and implementation of aligned and integrated communication and stakeholder engagement programs, strategies, and initiatives in support of the organization's strategic plan.
  • Responsible for proactive and reactive media relations, issues management and crisis communications planning and response, including developing and implementing media and stakeholder communications in response to emerging issues.
  • Directing and guiding the organization's marketing program, including brand management, sponsorship, advertising, and marketing research.
  • Directing and implementing the organization's internal communications program and activities; working with Human Resources to build and cultivate employee engagement and organizational culture.
  • Handling budget and revenue management for areas of program responsibility, including development and reporting.
  • Managing staff with accountability for hiring, training, and coaching; conducting all aspects of performance management including making recommendations for training and development.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in the field of Communications or Public Relations.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience creating and managing the deployment of resources for complex, organization-wide projects, including people and budgets.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic communications planning.
  • 5-7 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, media relations, issues management, crisis communications, marketing, and branding.
  • Ability to lead a team and provide guidance and leadership to both junior and senior team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a professional and collaborative team environment.
