Job Summary The Director, Sectoral Climate Strategy supports the delivery of RBC\xe2\x80\x99s climate commitments by owning the process for developing sectoral strategies and targets and by leading a function support to the lines of business on their implementation.
What is the opportunity? The Enterprise Climate Strategy & Governance (CS&G) Team takes a OneRBC approach to own and accelerate RBC\xe2\x80\x99s climate ambition and supports strategy delivery while ensuring strong cross-enterprise alignment. The team serves as a central connection point for the enterprise on climate, bringing climate expertise, external insights, connectivity, best practices and thought leadership to groups across RBC. Reporting to the Director, Climate Strategy, the Director, Sectoral Climate Strategy supports the delivery of RBC\xe2\x80\x99s climate commitments by owning the process for developing sectoral strategies and targets and by leading a function support to the lines of business on their implementation. What will you do?
Own the end-to-end emissions reduction target-setting process, including project planning and management, including facilitating strategy discussions, alignment and decision-making
Own the governance and controls process required to set and disclose emissions reduction targets
Lead on framing RBC\xe2\x80\x99s enterprise-level ambition for prioritized sectors, including collaboration with lines of business to develop clear external and internal targets for each sector
Own an enterprise-level roadmap of action in each sector and lead CS&G efforts to mobilize action against this road map
Lead on monitoring enterprise-level progress against sectoral strategies
Establish and operationalize CS&G\xe2\x80\x99s approach to supporting lines of business on implementing sectoral climate strategies
Drive efforts to unlock value from work and expertise existing across the enterprise by identifying opportunities to increase leverage and coordination
Lead discrete projects to address prioritized opportunities / challenges on sectoral strategies that require an enterprise-level response
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
5+ years of strategy consulting experience either in management consulting or within the corporate strategy function of a global corporation; with at least 2+ years of experience leading strategy projects (e.g., Director, Engagement Manager, Principal level)
Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written, especially PowerPoint), including ability to synthesize complex topics into a clear messages and recommendations
Experience working in a cross-functional business environment required to influence without authority, including working with senior-executive level stakeholders
Strong ability to understand and meet business needs
Exceptional organizational, project management, and stakeholder management capabilities
Innovative mindset with a desire to establish a new function within a dynamic team
Nice-to-have
Experience working either in corporate sustainability or financial services
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
Curiosity to learn and stay abreast of a fast-moving technical topic
