Job Summary
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
RBCs Climate Strategy team drives the overall Enterprise vision to own and accelerate RBCs climate ambition and supports strategy delivery while ensuring strong cross-enterprise alignment, with a mandate spanning sustainable finance, sectoral climate targets, and client engagement. The team serves as a central connection point for the enterprise on climate, bringing climate expertise, external insights, connectivity, best practices and thought leadership to groups across RBC.
Reporting to the Director, Sectoral Climate Strategy, the Senior Manager, Sectoral Climate Strategy enables the delivery of RBCs climate commitments by driving the development and implementation of sectoral climate strategies. This role will work directly across multiple lines of business (e.g., Capital Markets, Commercial Banking) to set climate ambitions and execute business strategies in prioritized sectors, including Energy, Real Estate, Agriculture, and Transportation.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Support strategy development, project management and analytics for emissions reduction target-setting, with an emphasis on strategic problem-solving, story lining, and owning economic analysis
Drive development of sectoral climate strategies, including research and analytical work relating to sectoral climate strategies and decarbonization pathways, maintaining an enterprise-level roadmap of action in each sector to mobilize action
Support implementation & coordination of sectoral strategies across lines of business, including development of common enterprise-level frameworks and tools (e.g., client engagement framework), lead discrete projects to address prioritized opportunities / challenges on sectoral strategies that require an enterprise-level response
Establish and own a knowledge and insights management function, maintaining a strong working knowledge of key technical and strategic developments relevant to this mandate - including updates to industry standards, stakeholder expectations, public policy
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have:
3+ years of strategy experience either in management consulting (Senior Consultant or Engagement Manager level) or within the corporate strategy function of a global corporation
Experience with quantitative economic and financial modelling
Experience working in corporate sustainability, and/or sector decarbonization
Experience with structured problem-solving approaches and synthesis of key insights, including clear story lining and structure communication for executive audiences
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
Nice-to-have:
Exceptional stakeholder management and inter-personal skills, particularly soft-influence
