Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Status: Permanent Full-time University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Director, Redevelopment Projects in our FM-PRO Department. JOB SUMMARY: The position of Director, Redevelopment Projects is to provide University Health Network with professional leadership in the delivery of capital projects and facility upgrades across the all UHN sites. The Director will be responsible for the implementation phase of capital projects with project budgets ranging from $1M to $100M. The Senior Director works under the direction of the Executive Director \xe2\x80\x93 Capital, to lead the effective project delivery of capital renovations and facilities renewal initiatives. The accountabilities of the Director include the successful project outcomes, i.e., adherence to scope, budget and schedule for each project, in support of the programs and services at UHN. The Director, in collaboration with FM-PRO Directors, consults client groups including Clinical leadership, JDMI and LMP, Michener, Research, and Education in their mandate and accountabilities in the provision of programs and services in project implementation. The Director\xe2\x80\x99s exceptional interpersonal skills ensures effective collaboration with the above client groups and with the other Directors of FM-PRO to ensure that the goals/objectives of the programs and services requiring space and/or capital are supported and achieved consistent with UHN Strategic Priorities and within available and assigned capital fiscal resources and spatial constraints. The Director maintains responsibility through direct reports and is accountable for the outcomes of these capital projects across UHN. The Director is responsible for the processes and procedures followed to successfully deliver individual projects and the redevelopment program. QUALIFICATIONS:


  • At minimum a completion of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in architecture or engineering or recognized equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 10 years progressive practical experience in the field of construction and project management of a variety of capital construction and equipment installation projects.
  • 5 or more years of related experience of managing medium to large multifunctional project management teams in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, such as a hospital or clinic with 24/7/365 operational environments.
  • Membership in Professional Engineers of Ontario or Ontario Association Architects preferred.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector or the public sector, with knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies is highly desirable.
  • Excellent change management, leadership and motivational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication including report writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
  • Ability to negotiate in a matrix environment; adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to implement changes and work effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
