Role Description
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Retail and Mixed Use, National Marketing, the Marketing Director at Oakridge Park is responsible for helping to tell the Oakridge Park story while simultaneously laying the groundwork in advance of Centre opening in 2024 (grand opening event planning; interim programming efforts; holiday d\xc3\xa9cor procurement; development of marketing collateral/leasing materials; website and/or app development; etc.). Ultimately, when open, the Marketing Director will focus his/her attention on the overall planning and execution of marketing activities designed to: generate brand awareness; increase foot traffic thereby positively impacting retail sales; build community by increasing \xe2\x80\x9cheart share\xe2\x80\x9d; spark joy in the customer journey; highlight the tenant mix and offering; and, help to position QuadReal Retail as leaders in the shopping centre marketing space vis-\xc3\xa0-vis cutting-edge marketing ideation and execution. About Oakridge Working with Canadian developer, Westbank, we are reimagining Oakridge Centre, a top performing asset in a global city, with the goal of transforming it into a major cultural hub and new municipal town centre for the City of Vancouver. The new Oakridge Park will be a mixed-use, transit-oriented neighbourhood hub that will offer 900,000 sq.ft. of unique, experiential retail plus, office space, residential towers, a public park, a civic centre, a new library, a daycare, a seniors\xe2\x80\x99 centre, a dance school, a world-class performing arts academy, a music venue, performance space and a community centre. From a retail perspective, if you thought Oakridge Centre was Vancouver\xe2\x80\x99s \xe2\x80\x9cmost stylish destination\xe2\x80\x9d before, just you wait! Things are about to get even more stylish plus . . . more delish. As part of the future proposition, Oakridge\xe2\x80\x99s retail component will see an overhaul that will render it unrecognizable, its footprint doubling in size to almost one million square feet. When it opens in 2024, visitors to the Centre (expected to reach over 26 million per year) can expect a carefully curated collection of best-in-class retailers from around the globe including unique luxury brands and services, flagship boutiques and some first-to-market tenants - all seamlessly integrated with a word-class culinary experience including an International-style food hall. Oakridge Park is not only one of the single biggest developments in Vancouver\xe2\x80\x99s history; it\xe2\x80\x99s also one of the most monumental redevelopments currently underway in North America given its sheer scale, ground breaking design and overall ambition. Responsibilities

  • Live and embody the QuadReal values (integrity, collaboration, performance, innovation and responsibility).
  • Lay the groundwork in advance of Centre opening in 2024 with focus on grand opening event planning; interim programming efforts; holiday d\xc3\xa9cor procurement; development of marketing collateral/leasing materials; website and/or app development; etc.
  • Once open, oversee all aspects of day-to-day marketing of Oakridge Park.
  • Prepare an annual strategic marketing plan outlining short and long-term strategies for all aspects of the marketing portfolio including programming/placemaking, branding, advertising, public relations, tenant relations, community relations, interactive/social media activities and more.
  • Effectively manage and implement the annual marketing budget including creating support schedules; coding and processing payables; analyzing variances; and, reporting on the budget as requested.
  • Work closely with Westbank\xe2\x80\x99s global residential and marketing teams to ensure a synergistic approach to our collective efforts including storytelling activities globally.
  • Manage a professional agency/s to develop distinctive campaigns, advertisements, marketing collateral, signage, etc.
  • Oversee the evolution of the Oakridge branding into the \xe2\x80\x9cnext gen\xe2\x80\x9d branding.
  • Direct the development, planning and execution of a robust calendar of innovative programming initiatives including events, pop-ups, activations, etc.
  • Working closely with the Senior Vice President, Retail and Mixed Use, National Marketing, generate media coverage for the Centre by ensuring all programming initiatives, tenant openings, Centre news, etc. are appropriately supported from a public relations standpoint. Where appropriate, serve as the \xe2\x80\x9cface\xe2\x80\x9d of Oakridge for the purposes of media interviews, media tours, media events, etc.
  • Support the redevelopment team by filling the gap between sales, leasing and public interface; attending and participating at open houses as required; coordinating with the team to ensure overall brand consistency; etc.
  • Support Leasing, as needed, through research and marketing efforts including the creation of cutting-edge sales packages.
  • Oversee the Centre\xe2\x80\x99s interactive activities to ensure sound strategy; on-brand messaging; consistent posting; strong engagement; etc. Ultimate responsibility for Oakridge Park\xe2\x80\x99s social channels including content strategy and planning; content creation; \xe2\x80\x9calways on\xe2\x80\x9d social listening and response; and, ongoing tracking and reporting.
  • Serve as editor-in-chief ensuring that anything that is seen by internal/external audiences (direct mail, ads, web content, tenant newsletter, etc.) reflects the highest standard of excellence, creative and otherwise.
  • Foster positive tenant, consumer, community, philanthropic and strategic marketing partner relationships.
  • Manage the Marketing team (Manager, Coordinator and/or Assistant), providing employees with tools for success, training/mentoring team members, appraising work, and addressing any performance-related concerns.
  • Work hand-in-glove with other management staff and employees.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
