In this role, you will support the Oxford Real Estate Investment team in Canada in the pursuit and execution of complex investments in private and public markets, focusing on single asset and portfolio transactions, land and development opportunities, as well as partnership/joint venture structuring.
As a member of the Canadian Investments team, reporting to the SVP, Canada, the Director, Investments Canada will be involved in many aspects of the investment process; including the identification and origination of investments, due diligence, negotiation of purchase agreements, development documents, joint venture agreements and related governance agreements, structuring, regulatory review and approvals, and closing mechanics. The Director, Investments will liaise with external legal and other professional advisors, as well as internal teams in investment, global finance, compliance and tax.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Leading Oxford Real Estate Investment pursuits, including working with the transaction, treasury and development teams through the due diligence and investment process and liaising with external legal counsel and other professional advisors.
Negotiating a wide range of investment and development documents, including preliminary transaction documents, purchase agreements, joint venture documents, development documents and related governance agreements.
Provide thought leadership on asset allocation, portfolio construction and other contemporary institutional quality investment processes.
Working with legal with respect to the structuring of investment transactions and compliance with applicable local laws and regulations as well as pension, corporate and tax legislation.
Supporting assets under management including financings, sales, developments, joint ventures and governance.
Acts as a key advisor to senior leadership on the development of strategic objectives and goals of the Investment team.
Developing and building relationships with internal partners within each of Oxford's asset classes, professional advisors and directing them in pursuit of Investment opportunities.
Liaising with Oxford legal, tax, finance, development, compliance and other areas within the Oxford/OMERS enterprise and leading cross-functional teams and initiatives.
Mentor and develop a team of high performing investment professionals while providing them with an encouraging, enjoyable and supportive working environment.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
A strong Real Estate background and experience with executing investment transactions.
Bachelor's degree and preference for advanced education in a relevant field.
Typically requires 10+ years of experience in Real Estate Investments including significant transactional, asset management and regulatory experience, with strong negotiation and business acumen.
Proven ability to establish team trust and foster an inclusive culture. Working style flexibility that supports many individuals with different skills, experiences, and perspectives.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, a strong listener and emotionally intelligent.
Able to build successful relationships internally and externally.

Accepting that some travel will be required.
