THE ROLE:

As a member of the Supply Chain and Operations team this position is responsible for managing all manufacturing business planning and logistics for worldwide shipments. The successful candidate will provide expertise in planning processes, customs & logistics, problem solving and proven leadership of a team of professionals. The Director, Planning & Logistics is an integral member of the management team and plays a key role in the success of the organization. This position reports to the Vice President, Supply Chain & Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act in a Leadership role to manage a strong team of Business/Operations Planners and Customs & Logistics personnel
  • Interface with Senior level Sales, Marketing, Operations and Field personnel in developing and managing the IMAX build and shipment plans
  • Drive business planning and implementation, resulting in achievement of cost, inventory, and delivery objectives
  • Develop and report on key metrics
  • Support and initiate improvements in processes and systems (SAP ERP/MRP system)
  • Advise Management on all major issues as they relate to continuity of supply in support of customer shipments
  • Participate in the development and implementation of long-term strategies
  • Utilize negotiation and problem solving skills in finalizing business plans and operational issue resolution
  • Source, evaluate and select qualified logistics suppliers that can provide high quality, and globally competitive services to 80+ countries for both Container load and smaller shipments
  • Develop, maintain and promote sound company to company relationships through adherence with corporate policies and procedures
  • Work closely, and effectively communicate with several different department managers in areas such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Service/Aftermarket, Finance, IS, and Facilities
  • Responsible for providing input to departmental annual SG&A and Capital budget process including resource requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Post-Secondary Degree, ideally with a focus in Supply Chain or Business
  • Experience in hardware manufacturing environment with supply chain expertise
  • Relevant Designation (SCMP, CPP, CPIM, PMAC) or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Supply Chain professional with a minimum of 10 years' experience in Supply Chain in a Manufacturing environment
  • A proven leader with a minimum of 5 years of management experience within Planning & Logistics
  • Intimate understanding of MRP/ERP systems, planning processes, and international customs & logistics
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence both within and outside of the individual's direct scope of responsibility, to achieve overall business objectives
  • Exposure to financial measurements, budgeting and accounting principles in an operations environment
  • Resourceful, diplomatic, and customer service-oriented individual with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills, highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent people development and performance management skills
  • Forward thinking and focused on establishing sustainable competitive advantages
  • Entrepreneurial and creative, ability to think "outside the box"
  • Engaging, willingness to share information freely, and ability to gain active commitment from everyone on your team
