Job Summary

The Senior Director, Planning and Design role provides the technology vision and strategy to advance business goals, establishing and driving application and technology short and long term plans for the entire enterprise. You will be responsible for planning and design across Retail Payments, Enterprise Fraud, Enterprise Client Information Facility, Enterprise Authentication, Enterprise Integration, Client Marketing and Messaging domains. In addition, this role communicates the vision and ensures stewardship for all applications and technology, providing leadership and direction in support of key business objectives. The role leads in the architecture and solution design of multiple business critical applications. The role adaptively provides new solutions to achieve results and effectiveness to the business.

What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Be Doing

As Senior Director, Planning and Design, you will join CIBC\xe2\x80\x99s RBSS department to lead Planning and Design team strategies and support for multiple associated initiatives working with retail banking business as well as multiple lines of businesses across CIBC. This role focuses on consulting technology teams on industry leading best practices tools and frameworks.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you\xe2\x80\x99ll spend 1 day per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You\xe2\x80\x99ll Succeed

Strategic Development & Execution: Direct, manage and deliver all aspects of consultancy for small to medium, complex, mission critical application projects. Identify the drivers, strategies and needs of the technology solution. Facilitate/Lead coaching, consultation and presentation as needed. Direct reviews of requirements, tools and technologies for improving quality and reducing costs. Establish, monitor and adhere to budget for your respective area.

Relationship Management: Manage relationships with delivery areas and business partners; interface and maintain communications, monitor business and technology developments and provide on-time response and support. Proactively manage vendor relationships (onshore and offshore) for project resources to ensure effective utilization.

Strong Leadership: Be a bold and authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. Direct, motivate, develop and manage performance of the management team and key staff.

Who You Are

You have demonstrated 8-10 years\' experience in:

In depth knowledge of various technologies and architectures on how to develop mission critical applications in the financial sector.

Managing complex IT projects in an enterprise environment.

Forming, building and managing effective teams in a matrix full-time/onshore/offshore model.

Able to demonstrate and effectively manage multiple engagement and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based environment.

Excellent communication and influencing skills, as well as demonstrated tenacity and persistence, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Ability to consult, attend strategic roadmap meetings, lead and manage strategy discussion with business strategy with technology partners and business at a senior leadership level.

Streamline and modernize intake process, establishing strategic planning via interlocks and building a strong repository of our portfolio\'s applications by architecture domains.

You have strong knowledge of: Payments, Data, Fraud, Aggregators, Emerging technologies, Governance over Architecture, Technology Standards and Solution Design, Application Strategy and Strategic roadmaps, including application modernization and rationalization, Strategic planning, partner relationships, fiscal planning, intake management, and consulting services, knowledge of regulatory environment is an asset.

It\xe2\x80\x99s an advantage if you have a bachelor\'s degree or equivalent in a related field. Have the ability to make judgments regarding the ongoing viability of development phase or strategy based on ability to deliver upon agreed functionality within approved budget and schedule. It is an advantage if you have experience within an Agile environment.
