The Director, Central Operations is a member of the MediSystem Senior Leadership team responsible for supporting operations sites across the country as an operations subject matter expert for new projects and initiatives. This role is accountable for leading the vendor management team, inventory process and systems team, learning and development team. The role will also work closely with other central support functions such as systems, process, business operations and product teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Plays a key role in the Senior Leadership team in development and implementation of the Strategic Vision for MediSystem
  • Champions the company's Vision, Mission and Values as set out in the Strategic Plan
  • Manages KPIs as defined by the enterprise and maintains a Continuous Improvement plan to meet and exceed specified objectives
  • Fosters excellent colleague engagement
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of projects
  • Identifies opportunities to automate processes and support the implementation of new technologies
  • Develops business plans to support new programs and initiatives
  • Leads the implementation of new programs and initiatives across national operations sites. Act as an operations liaison and collaborate with stakeholders across the business and enterprise on initiatives impacting MediSystem
  • Partners with the larger enterprise on strategic projects
  • Fosters a ground-up culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement that delivers measurable qualitative and quantitative return on investment
  • Sets direction for and oversees process, efficiency, and cost savings initiatives across the business; ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, while improving patient care
  • Manages and oversees the vendor management team. Supports the vendor procurement process and onboarding of new vendors
  • Collaborates with the enterprise procurement team on cost savings initiatives
  • Lead coach and supports team of managers to achieve financial and project goals and ensure client satisfaction
  • Leads the inventory management team and collaborates with enterprise teams to ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained across all pharmacy sites
  • Identifies opportunities to synergize, integrate and coordinate Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw Companies Limited operating activities, including retail pharmacies
  • Provides strategic oversight for all business systems impacting regional sites, managing the impact of upgrades or new systems on site performance
  • Sets direction for and oversees the business Learning and Development strategy
  • Provides guidance, motivation, and performance review; including hiring and terminating employees, Individual Development Plans to maintain and enhance competency levels.
  • Develops and establishes short and long term departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.
  • Delivers industry leading Customer Experiences
  • Provides guidance to team members on building strong relationships with the associates and their teams by reinforcing and expecting use of CORE values and Blue Culture
What You'll Need:
  • 5-7 years' experience in healthcare, pharmacy or operational leadership roles
  • Mandatory: Registered Pharmacist in good standing with one of the Provincial Colleges of Pharmacy
  • MBA or lean manufacturing certification considered an asset
  • Previous experience managing large and diverse teams
  • Proven track record of delivering results
  • Business and financial acumen, intellectual curiosity
  • Proven ability to coach, train and mentor staff
  • Ability to work within a dynamic, rapidly evolving environment and make timely and effective decisions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, conflict resolution and negotiating skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to make connections at all levels of the organization
  • Leadership presence, with confidence to engage and influence cross-functional and executive leadership
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse operations and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent influencing, planning and project management skills
  • Understanding of Adult Learning principles considered an asset
  • Self-motivated and resilient, with a positive attitude and high energy level
