Job Title: Director of Shelter and Housing Services

Reports To: Executive Director

Harvest House Atlantic, founded in 1999, supports homeless individuals, those struggling with substance use or mental health, and those seeking change in Greater Moncton. Serving a record 191 people nightly, we provide Emergency Shelter, Community Kitchen, Supportive Housing, and Addiction Recovery Supports, working tirelessly to break barriers and guide individuals toward stability.

Job Summary

The Director of Shelter and Housing Services is responsible for leading and managing the housing, sheltering and community focused services of Harvest House Atlantic. This role will help support the organizations vision while working to lead, enhance and develop programs and services that responds to the needs of the community in which we serve. This Leadership role will oversee a large team of front-line service workers and to help support them in the work that they do.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with management to support the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Shelter, Community Centre, Food Services Program and the various Housing programs, including staff supervision, program planning, and budget management.
• Establish and maintain high standards of client care and service delivery in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for all departments listed above, ensuring that they promote safety, dignity, respect and client-focused approaches.
• Host and participate within internal team meetings to help communicate the expectations, changes and alignment of the organization as it relates to core service delivery.
• Work closely with leadership to cultivate strong relationships within Government, not-profit partners, funders and other stakeholders that help support the work of the organization.
• Serve as the representative at various stakeholder meetings within the community or along with the Executive Director as requested.
• Develop partnerships to help move the vision of the organization forward, including training, volunteer opportunities, staff recognition and client supports.
• Work with teams to ensure compliance of tracking and reporting of key metrics both required internally and through partners and funders.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the various programs, implementing improvements as necessary.
• Serve as the accountability structure for the various Accreditation programs and contracts in place within the Housing, Shelter and Food Services programs.
• Prepare reports and propose opportunities for growth to be passed along to leadership and the Board as necessary. Seek areas to improve work being done and new areas to collaborate or grow the departments.
• Work closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Philanthropy to help supports the efforts to engage, recruit or retain donors and partners.
• Assist in developing grant proposals and strategies for fund raising initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

• Preference given to those with a bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, Business Administration or related field.
• However, combinations of education and work experience that are transferrable will be considered.
• Proven track record in leadership.
• Demonstrated track record in successful program development, implementation and evaluation.
• Experience in partnership development, community engagement and advocacy.
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work alongside and to motivate staff.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advocate for the organizations mission and clients.
• Bilingual is an asset
• Preference will be given to those with experience in the areas of housing, shelter management with knowledge of legislation and policies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,400.00 per year
